irving was pretty good in the last go-round (worlds, right?). i wouldn't bet against cousins turning some games in the right direction, either. he seems a little more focused outside of the toxic sac environment.
He and Melo are different players internationally. It's pretty interesting to see what they can be compared to what they are.
neither guy has ever really gotten to play with very good teammates, imo. they seem to enjoy the opportunity.
Watching the USA vs China game, of course USA dominated. China is just outmatched. But, Yi looked pretty good. I wonder why he isnt playing in the NBA anymore.
yi's was never a good enough shooter, ironically (given that was supposed to be a big part of his game). he still isn't. he doesn't even have reliable 20 footer, much less nba three. this makes him a poor man's ersan ilyasova.
Normally I would watch all the team USA basketball games but not this year, rather spend the time watching other events. Every game is going to be a blowout by halftime. And Kobe isn't playing.
Yeah Gasol brothers and Spain were the best of the rest last couple Olympics but now that run is winding or has wound down. Who's 2nd and 3rd likely handicapped for Silver and Bronze now? Spain still up there? Don't think Pau is playing....how about Marc?
Team sports are my least favourite during the Olympics. Athletics, swimming, weight lifting, rowing etc. are all "better" .
I've been hearing France get thrown around a lot. Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Rudy Gobert, Nicholas Batum, that one big man from Denver.
I'll be honest, I haven't watched a complete game that this team has played even counting the exhibitions. I just don't feel any connection with the team especially without Kobe on it. The last two Olympics had compelling stories attached to them like 2008 being the Redeem Team and 2012 being Kobe and supposedly Coach Ks final Olympics. This year, the competition is lacking and the games are boring. The biggest (or should I say slightly above average) story of this Olympics was Draymond Green's accidental Snapchat post. At least in 2020 the future stars that are playing now will take over.
