I said a few games into the season that this draft is transformative for the franchise. Ball is an obvious winner. Kuzma is an incredible steal. I believe in Hart quite a bit. I think he can be an important piece to a championship team. Bryant is a bit harder to project but he looks like a winner too. If he's our weakest draft pick from this draft, that's incredible because I think he genuinely has starting potential down the line. I think at the least he's a bench big and that's already impressive for a mid 2nd round pick.
I see Bryant getting called in and having some time when we are out of a playoff spot. Give the young man experience to set up for next season. I am not sure if we would want Lopez back or Bogut would be back for that matter.
That would solve a lot of problems wouldn't it. With Randle in the mix too. If Zu could meet his original promise and take it to another level then we have still a cheap bonafide big man and two excellent and skilled small ball centers if we retain Randle. Big if though. I hope Zu is working his a** off in the weight room when in town and getting stronger and quicker. If you're not playing in NBA games and there are this many breaks now in the season ..... he ought to be able to train all year long if he wants it bad enough. Not like the guys putting the energy out playing in the actual big league games on top of same practices Zu attends and playing smaller and lesser opponents in the G league not as many games. I know TT was at the Star Wars premiere (allegedly ) or at dinner with Khloe (more likely ) instead of in the game but we were killing the Cavs in the paint the whole first half. Don't know how it wound up in that regard in the 2nd half.
Unfortunately, I think Bryant playing well forces Zu out of the rotation. I could see Zu being moved; Bryant should start getting time in another month or so possibly sooner.
Then we need to keep Randle. I guess if LBJ is here he can play the 5 in some situations but we need another big man, preferably 3 we can count on. Lopez and Bogut gone. So if Zu too then ....?
Zubac has better back to the basket game and can shoot the face up both at the elbows straight up or either side of the board. His skill sets translates better to a slower half court game. He's really been MIA this season whether it's him, the current game plans or both. Bryant though has a deeper range on his shots from those G-League clips with better motor to change ends on the floor suitable with the faster pace this crew plays with. Great hands too catching passes.
I like Bryant's ability to shoot it from deep. I'm sorry to say, for right now at least I'm kind of over Zubac after his lackluster summer league and few times he's played this year. He might prove something to us at some point, but at the moment I'd like to see how Bryant plays off the bench instead. I still think Zu might get packaged with Deng. Bryant seems like he might be a keeper. Looking forward to finding out. I saw him tear it up in a few G league games.
