That's not true. He did a couple of close-out attacks during the preseason and even had, I think, a dive and pop from the FT line.
Disagree. He's the only Laker who can shoot. Can't afford to sit him. Until DLO and Austin get their s*** together, there has to be at least one shooter out there. Also without his 3rd Q, there's no run/momentum swing and Kings put us away.
I think he's providing pretty good value for his contract so far. He's a better shooter than I anticipated, but 13 3pt attempts? I don't think he's that good of a shooter.
He needs to start as long as our back-court is playing like this. He seems to be the only legitimate long-range shooting threat we have right now. If Dlo & AR start shooting/scoring well, then you can start Vando without too much trouble.
I'd like to see the twin towers lineup as the starters. Wood and AD did major damage when in together. Prince with the starters is just so so thus far. They get blown out every first quarter.
I've seen you mention it a few times today but why do you think Prince has been so so as the 5th starter? I think he's been fine, knocking down shots and guarding the best perimeter player. I think the bigger issue are the guards underperforming.
i think he's miscast as a guard stopper. he simply can't do it. he can guard sf/pf types--we desperately needed one of those, and now with him and vando we have two. but we're just trying to place him on whoever is the biggest perimeter threat and hoping that and AD playing rover will save us. it will not. he needs minutes, but maybe not the ones he's getting. that said, if dlo and reaves could hit anything, maybe our preseason starter dominance would still be happening, and we wouldn't be talking about this.
Yeah, I'm in favor of him still starting because currently he's our only shooter but I agree that he shouldn't be on point guards. Defensively it should be limited to: - SFs - smaller PFs - bigger SGs That's his wheelhouse. I get without Vando and will the limitations of our guards, we don't have tons of options but we're not maximizing TP's skill set. I would be curious to see a big lineup when Vando is back to see how it does (not as a starting group, but give them a few shifts to get it on tape): AD Bron Vando TP Austin/DLO/Gabe... pick one
Not sure. He played great the first game, he was a high point for us but we still got trounced. The starters look like crap and he’s the only new guy out there. We are getting killed every first quarter with a huge deficit. We look lethargic. The chemistry isn’t there. Sometimes you need to shake things up to see what works. I like Prince on paper. But something ain’t working.
To my point he was 1-4 with only 4 points in 24 minutes last night against Orlando. He was pretty invisible/non impactful. Obviously Rui and Vando are both hurt now and can’t play. So he has the starting job at least until one comes back. But he continues to underwhelm me and the starters aren’t clicking. Even last night they had an extremely slow start. Reaves looks terrible at the moment. Maybe I’d move Prince down to the 2 and add Wood to the starting lineup. He looks great so far with AD and Lebron and things seem to click better when he’s in. That would keep some perimeter shooting, size and D out there with starters. Bring Reaves off the bench to recharge him and ease him back in.
Problem there, to me at least, is Wood is matchup dependent as a potential starter. Prince is a set it and forget it. You can start Prince against any team. Wood couldn't have started against the Kings. These smaller, faster teams you can't put start him there. Not necessarily because of Wood even, but because where that slots Bron.
Hmmm. Something needs to give/change. The starters are losing every first quarter beginning and just aren’t sharp at all. I’d go big now and just try it out. Clog the paint, grab most of the boards and let AD and Lebron work the paint on offense and let Dlo Wood and Prince shoot. Sit Reaves and let him work his way back in the rotation.
Starters are just getting destroyed on the glass and with hustle points - feels like Wood helps with both of these just with his size and length. This is not a knock on Prince per see whose playing really well: he's a great signing and clearly going to part of any 8-9 man rotation in the playoffs
