We should use non-bird to re-sign him, imo. Not his fault ham overexposed him. Very good 20mpg bench player. Playable in the playoffs.
Yup, Prince is a very useful role player. If one of Rui or Vando is traded for help in the backcourt we're going to need all the competent forwards we can get. I'm glad to see that the frustration with Ham misusing Prince didn't sour Prince on being a Laker.
If he is re-signed, I really hope the next coach uses common sense and doesn’t play him or Gabe 30-40 mins per game… I’d much rather just avoid and not re-sign this guy. Fringe role player. A huge headache and reason why we sucked this past year. I get that a ton of that is on Ham for playing him 48 mins per game, but this guy sucks.
No he doesn’t suck at all when used correctly. Size decent D on right kind of assignments, decent athleticism and shot 40% from 3.
Yeah..but this s*** is crazy tho..After all that Prince taking Rui’s minutes talk. The playoff numbers are illuminating. https://stathead.com/basketball/ver...urce=bbr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=princta02
I liked Prince and felt he was one of the handful of guys who brought consistent effort every game. Definitely would be fine if he is brought back.
Very good role player off the bench, but will he stay for the vet minimum? We will need the mid level for a good backup PG or Big.
we have non-bird rights, so we can sign him for above the minimum, all the way up to 120% of last year's salary, which clears the BAE and TPMLE, i think. so we should be in the driver's seat if we want to keep him. if we move rui or vando, we basically NEED to keep him. yeah, as i said above--not prince's fault ham over-/mis-used him. 20mpg playing 3/4 depending on matchups. solid veteran. on smaller guys, you give reddish or christie the nod before prince. watching prince try to contain guards was nuts. not having gabe or vando sucked there, but prince wasn't the answer even then. hell, i'd go with reaves before prince, and dlo would have done an equally bad job but allowed you to play prince in better spots defensively for what would probably be a net gain.
I'm fine bringing him back so long as his minutes are 15-20 and nothing more than that. I hope Redick loves "math" as much as he said he did in the presser, because the "math" said we were VERY good when he would play between 16-24 minutes lol.
I would like him back as insurance at the right price. IMO he isn't a top eight player on our roster so I don't see many minutes.
if we moved say, vando and rui for grant, then re-signing prince as the primary backup forward makes sense. we'd have to save cash somewhere, though.
