From: Ham, Darvin To: lakersball RE: Prince's Minutes Hello, I received all your messages. I just want everyone to know that when we are up big, I am comfortable letting Taurean rest--but that is the only time. As such, you will see that in wins, he plays less. Because I need him less then. He plays more when I need him more. Think Jesus and sand footprints. You're welcome! DH
Some of the below has to do with health but I remember when we were healthy he was being played too much PLAY HIM LESS
Can't believe we wasted so much of the season with this guy starting. We pretty much all complained about it and were right. Rui as a starter with Dlo, Reaves, AD and Lebron are now 6-0. Being this far back was absolutely correctable with smarter rotations.
Rui or Vando was the obvious choice earlier.. I don't have any faith in Ham. He's a handicap to the team.
I don't either unfortunately. Last year he did a heck of a job coaching us to the WCF. This year he tinkered way too long with lineups and in so doing screwed with the point of our summer signings: continuity. If healthy I would have hoped he would start Vando of course as that starting lineup won a whole lot of games after the trade deadline last season (65%). But with Vando out, Rui was the natural choice. It's a shame that Ham didn't go that route as it would helped the chemistry right out of the gate instead of the not very effective Prince who was unknown to all his teammates. Given how mediocre a fit and performer Prince was, it should have been as obvious to the coach as it was to us that using him as a starter wasn't working. It never should have taken 45 plus games to move him to the bench. That was just ruinous for more than half the season. Well, upwards and onwards. I'm glad Ham finally did something positive in putting Rui in the starting lineup. I think it will stick at this point. But if Ham can't get our squad deep into the playoffs again this year somehow, then he should be fired. He's got a bit more time to prove himself, but you can't throw away a season where Lebron and AD have only missed a handful of games each.
Over 27 minutes and another L. Worst +/- on the team as usual again. Stupid step back three attempt over Bol Bol as well. Get this man off the team please.
Man I still like Prince in the proper role at his contract number, and I feel bad that he’s become this symbol of Darvin’s incompetence But man WTF is dude thinking with some of those step back threes? Ham foolishly gave him such a green light that I think it’s going to be harmful for his long term career
Cause his HC has him thinking he's part Bird, part Pip. When a coach has that kind of blind love for a role player, I'm sure they think they can do anything. I'm just waiting for the Steph half court 3s from him.
man, AD's reaction on that play is both legitimate and damning on a couple levels. as much as i believe prince is a value on his contract, the improper role and ham's role in that are going to land both guys elsewhere this july.
