I like tarik but im desperate for that 6 mill. If we trade him and brewer, along with Randle we have room for one max slot.
I'm just saying if you REALLY wanted someone... you could make it happen. Just talking hypothetically. Hayward,Griffin could be low key possibilities. You never know, crazy ish can happen lol.
i think black and brewer could both be moved pretty easily (maybe attach second rounders), but i'm not sure there's much worth spending on this summer. i'd rather save the cash for next summer. in fact, i'd be looking to take on other teams' blacks and brewers (serviceable one-year players) starting July 1 in exchange for draft picks.
I think you guys are both right and have been down to take on expiring contracts for picks next year. Got to save the max slots for next year.
I don't get the urge to trade Tarik so easily. I want to keep Back for the moment. We need depth at center, and also a change of pace if the other team goes small. Both Brook and Zu are too slow to keep up sometimes, and I don't like the fit for Randle or Nance at the 5. If it turns out Thomas Bryant is better than Black I'm fine with him being the replacement. But right now I expect Bryant to be in the D league for at least the first half of the year, and Black would be considered a really good 3rd stringer on any team.
I think we might be surprised who shines with Ball running point. High IQ players may suddenly find themselves a role.
I like him as a small ball center but he does have an easily tradeable contract. About $7mil non guaranteed, fully guaranteed after July 4th.
Yeah I do like Tarik the person very much. I think he's a really smart guy and has a bright future, but his best asset to the Lakers is a non-guaranteed contract. Unfortunately that guarantee realizes on the 4th so that contract goes from being very valuable to just somewhat valuable as an expiring.
We keep if we cant bring in some expiring contracts for future picks or cant sign one player for a big one year deal. Like it or not someone can get some nice minutes here and set himself up for a nice contract.
Good luck man. I'm sure he will catch on somewhere real quick. Was always a professional on and off the court.
I'm sorry to hear that. I love Tarik Black. I think he's a great guy and I like his hustle on the floor.
I'd love to bring him back post career. He's far from done, but he was a bright and intelligent young man. He's got a bright, bright future ahead of him. Hopefully someone picks him up and hopefully he makes it on a good team.
