Losing weight and getting stronger/in better shape also helps absorb contact and in most cases help further prevent injuries. He's headed in the right direction and I think he knows he's gonna be battling for minutes so he needs to get better and show he deserves them. That's called being in the right frame of mind. Really happy to see this. I've always like THT and if they were gonna choose AC or him this is the choice I would have also made.
guessing he's still got plenty of mass relative to most nba players. he's just got a wider build, a bit like young barkley (not quite as barrel-chested as chuck, though).
That’s what happens when you shed that baby fat (interesting fact: I volunteered to take on what he shed—taking a few for the team).
Fan of The Year? Good thing Drummond didn't stick around. You'll shed it during the season during close games. Or when the playoffs start...
I'm expecting a big step forward for THT this year. If he improves at all in the two areas he says they are telling him to focus: on ball D and outside shooting, then he is going to be a problem with all the attention on the Big 3.
I think the key to the jump is Vogel having the conviction to play him through early mistakes. Losing playing time and being benched when you have an off game or two is very detrimental to development. May work as motivation for old timers. Young players need their confidence to grow as much as their skills.
Well a lot of this on THT: I think he is already a good man-on-man defender but he can get lost as a chaser/off the ball. That game against Portland he was a 1/2 step slow keeping up with Gary Trent Jr and he buried 3 after 3 on the Lakers. If he can tidy that up, it makes it much easier for the coach to play him
