Alright Gunnar, let's see what you got. He has a thick frame with super long arms as we know. Legs seem fine. If he drops 15-20 he'd probably look solid. Then you keep chiseling away from there. Not that hard. Nutrition&exercise is easy if motivated.
To be fair, he’s 18, we’ve seen a player like Bynum come in looking like that and turn into a beast within a few years. It’s all up to how hard he works from here on out, but he seems like a decent prospect.
There’s definitely a need for a player of his talents on this roster. We are in desperate need of a defensive minded 3. Hopefully he comes in camp in great physical condition.
it's hard to imagine a scenario wherein he plays with the big club this year. i'm expecting a lot of d-league time, working on conditioning/physique, etc. soonest i'd expect THT to have any impact would be next year, and i'm not even sure that's likely. he's young.
No teenager is getting time on this roster LMBO. If I'm wrong, I'll........ do nothing. Except admit I was wrong.
I don't disagree in general. With pro coaching and diet, you can get slim fast..*no pun intended*. I don't think there was a better choice available at that spot. THT has a lot of potential and slimming down is like the easiest part that can be fixed. Its all discipline. I also get the Bynum comparision even though Bynum started playing ball once he figured out he can touch the sky at 15-16 or something...like Joel Embiid. Big guys usually start later and their body doesn't catch up fast enough. It still raises an eye-brow when an 18 year old guy who wants to be an NBA player comes to the league with man boobs and a belly. His work ethic is TBD I guess...
i agree on the last part--i think that's why i was skeptical of cousins as a rook, even though he was clearly some sort of shaq/sheed hybrid--he obviously didn't take care of himself. and i'm like...this is your shot at a TON of cash. do it for that, if for nothing else. so we'll see. IF he gets his body right, he's got a lot of tools to be a successful nba player. some mocks had him as high as late lotto, iirc, so i'm not the only person who saw that.
THT was probably never going to play this year, but that's not great for his development. kuz's injury is starting to concern me. i don't like when they use vague terms like "stress reaction"--it usually means that he's not able to go and they don't know why.
Yep. My thoughts exactly. Once again - vague injury updates from the Lakers - same s*** as last year. Kept Kuzma because of "salary purposes" but now he may not be 100% and we still don't know what exactly the injury is? If he misses all of training camp and pre-season, that's fine...but if he starts missing regular season games? Ugh. And now THT too? WTF?
Again with TNT .....a stress reaction in the foot. I was joking earlier about modern training and all the specialized methods these "gurus" use, but WTF with all these weird injuries that take forever to heal.
THT was out of Summer League because of that injury. If that's any indication of how long Kuzma will be out, it may be awhile.
That's the weird part to me. I keep myself in decent shape simply because I feel better and I know it will help me in the long-term. If that AND millions of dollars isn't enough to make you want to get into shape, it seems like a red flag to me.
