I love what Trevor brought throughout his first(too short) stint with us but he looks done to me. Plus, he’s being asked to guard dudes who can just bowl him over. Because of his youth, foot speed, and size, SJ just fits better for what we need at the forward position.
I finally have a good comp for him in my mind. He's a younger Jeff Green another 3/4 big freak athletic dude who couldn't find a place in the league and was a disappointment till his late career emergence as a small ball 4/5 who works hard on D and you still have to guard him
He’s strong and can bump bodies with other big and strong players, unlike Ariza who goes probably 25lbs lighter and 10 years older and had that bounce him around some tonight against Sac. I also think he’s got basic skills to score that could be further worked on.
he looks better than ariza, tbh. we spent half a year waiting for ariza to save us when stan was available for his role the whole time.
Good news re: Johnson. https://www.google.com/amp/s/lakers...-be-signed-to-10-day-contract/2022/01/05/amp/
Just the versatility of his defense will be huge for this team. He's going to help against elite offensive players. He can match up with multiple positional players, it will be a huge asset for this team when they play more teams with offensive star power.
Not sure why we didn't wait until game day so the 10 days are better utilized. Maybe we wanted him at practice this week or we were afraid of someone else poaching him. Not wanting to nitpick... just great to have him back. Hoping he sticks around the rest of the season... and beyond.
Please keep the guy. Again, this is exactly the type of player we need. A true young wing with size and strength, willing to play defense.
What happens after those 10 days? BTW, I am convinced that, once AD comes back, having Russ, Monk, Johnson, Bron and AD out there, with Melo, Ariza and Dwight getting minutes off the bench is enough to start winning some games.
From the article I posted it seems that they are probably going to do two back to back 10 day contracts. During this period they will evaluate whether they are going to make any trades as they will be approaching the deadline. My gut feeling is that if Nunn plays well they will stick with what they have and offer Johnson a contract for the rest of the year. Unless some trade pops up that they can’t say no to. Then all bets are off.
