So refreshing to have another player hustle and take pride in playing defense. I want to see what he looks like alongside AR-15, AB, an engaged AD and LeBron. That could be a decent defensive five.

I think it’s as much that he is a much better athlete to to start with, to play defense …. and is very quick, especially for his size, than the smaller guys we’ve been having to play there. Really he looks great in that regard and looks like he ought to be capable of very physical play.

Collison after being out of the league well over 2 years looks quick too, if nothing else, with good size for his height.

Get a guy with some size (and hustle) and notice the difference right away. Shocking, I know.

His failure might be because he's never played with great talent. So far, he looks like he has the size, mobility, and skillset to play well off of our stars. He had an impressive spinning drive to the rim today that I never knew he had in his repertoire.

Sure he hustles but a lot of what is doing the impressing to us is that he is a fine athlete and quick for his size. More so than some or all of the players we have been having to use in that overmatched in size role.

It's a wings league , not an undersized guards one ... We start getting it in Dec 2021 , better later than never I guess

I know it’s a small two game sample, but I love the guy. I never understood Rob and LeGM’s thinking of surrounding an aging Lebron with an even older supporting cast. Aging stars need a few young, fresh legs around them to do the dirty work defensively. Look at CP3 in Phoenix and Steph in Golden State.

Someone that doesn't want to shoot the ball and play defense is uncommon on this team.

So many newbies around here would probably have been thinking I was a prevert had I used the LB standard description, “thick”.

He just looks so big on the floor for the Lakers. I used to watch him in Detroit and wasn't that impressed probably because he was always matched up against Lebron but on this team he looks like a giant.

Just hope he can hit the open 3: get out there and shoot a thousand a day dude. No reason you can't be a Cam Johnson type. Hell you look as big as him

He’s looked solid in these two games … but this IS a very small sample size.

It almost feels inevitable that our fanbase will hype him up now, only to eventually turn on him when it becomes clear that he can’t single handedly be the savior for our defense

It’s possible, but I think it’s more that having a player like him that can guard positions 1-4 allows our other players to play their actual positions. That matters, it matters if Bradley can guard SGs and stop being asked to guard guys much taller and longer than him, and that it allows us to even potentially run lineups of say Russ, Monk, Ariza, Johnson, LeBron. It gives us versatility we are badly lacking because we for some reason signed 80 guards 6’4 and under this offseason and as replacement players.

Up until this point, Stanley has been an underperforming draft pick on bad teams and they were hoping he would break out. This is the first time in his career that he isn't being looked at to suddenly become something that he isn't. The Lakers are really only asking him to do 1 thing well and everything else is gravy. He's not going to break out and become a star, but this could be exactly what he needed to find his niche as a role player in the NBA for years to come. If he accepts his limitations and slides into that role (and so far that appears to be the case), players like him have little value on bad teams, but are important on good teams. Maybe he flames out, but his size is desperately needed on the wing and in these past 2 games, he looks like an NBA player to me.
