Don't bring up Jones: it was obvious that he looked like a great fit. Young springy, able to switch and yet this team went star hunting again with Drummond. You would think once bitten twice shy but again dumped good roleplayers for a star again. At some point the FO and Lebron have acknowledge that maybe you don't need a big 3 and a big 2 ala Shaq/Kobe is the way to go. Shaq/Kobe is an aberration but it shows that if you have the right dominant duo, you just need the right type of guys (defensive superstars with a decent offensive game) to get it done. You don't need more guys with ego and another offensive star who wants the ball
big 2 is a tried and true model, imo. what kills me is we saw it work up close, and our big two got envious of big threes, literally while they were polishing their rings.
I don't blame them necessarily but it remains a weird blip: the lack of of layoff is one reason at least AD got hurt. That made them want a guy to really take the load off - oh well
I thought we had a pretty good supporting cast last year, and we were a fringe playoff team missing one of our big two. So I get the reasoning behind bringing in another player who could carry a large load during the regular season. I don’t think it was the wrong decision with AD missing time and Lebron being older.
i didn't like it because we didn't have the assets to get an actual third star, and thus we didn't get one. supporters of this year's offseason point to us being similarly bad last year with similar injuries, but the whole point of this trade was to be able to tread water without one of our stars due to the third one, and that's just not at all been the case. and we weren't this bad last year, either, tbh. record is similar (though the season isn't over yet), but most trends suggest we'll finish this season worst than last year and have very little recourse for improvement next year due to how we rolled the payroll into three guys.
I thought it might be around mid 30’s … thanks. The guy also is fast as hell in the open court for a 245lb player and has better handles than most probably with his body type.
Maybe he’s waiting until he’s signed and on the roster and as someone said Ariza being given his fair shot too in the starting lineup. As were the others. I don’t expect that to last much longer and Frank’s already giving him more minutes than Trevor.
you gotta believe they're waiting until the last second trying to trade baze and/or dj so that they don't have to take the cap hit. but they better sign stan.
Definitely but when is that time up? They can’t sign him to another 10 day right? I feel like this one expires later this week, correct?
I believe he signed his last 10 day contract on January 17th, so he’s only got 2 days left. Not sure if it expires before or after the Thursday game against Philadelphia.
