that's vogel-ese for "we better keep him", imo. and tbh, if the FO let vogel keep bradley, they need to let him keep stan.

It’s NOT at all like he brings very little on the offensive side of the ball. Has taken it to the rack, hit 3s and hit mid range shots and can get better at all of that. No Brainer!!

He's a rim guy, he doesn't take much from mid-range and as for 3s, just..no. He's had 7 years to show he can shoot 3s and that hasn't happened. He can penetrate and finish.

i'm betting he can hit enough threes to keep folks honest, and he more than makes up for the misses/spacing issues on defense and as a threat to floor it and score.

This year so far he's kinda looking like AD in that he can only hit from the corner 3 especially left but, it's a small sample size. AD doesn't take many corner 3s either, no idea why since it's the only area he hits them from.

I think he can. His shot mechanics look fine. He did this odd spread leg shot thing when he first got here, he's already tweaked that some. He's shooting 29% right now, last year he shot his best pro % at 33%. In college with a closer line he shot 37%. Other than the 19-20 Raptors team, he's been on some really bad teams that either aren't .500 teams or barely are; meaning he's not going to get that many open looks. With Penberthy and Handy working with him, if he could get up to 36%-37% after we lock him up on a couple year contract, he'd be a star in his role. The fact that he can handle the ball and slash is big, because as soon as he gets respect from 3 he can get them to bite on a fake and drive on a fly-by.

I'm just saying that with us he has knocked "some" of them down. As in multiple and I don't think they were all from the corner. Not saying we should look for him to shoot them, rather I personally think he's NOT a zero on offense. CAN go to the rim. HAS hit more than one from mid range (at least one floater and one J I believe). HAS hit some 3s. Can handle the ball at least a LITTLE. He's not the same player now as what you're describing and dismissing the thought for. Coincidentally to help make that point, I was just coming in to post this below which likely helps to explain MAYBE why he's MAYBE not that same player any more.

He played way too few minutes tonight. Should have been put on LeVert to cool him down.

The lack of minutes is like everything else right now. Very bizarre.

i was harping on that about our use of AD earlier this year. we insist on getting him the ball above the break for some reason. i know they haven't played much together, but we never saw a set with lebron screening for russ with AD in the corner (either side, really). partly because we always had dj out there clogging up the paint in those lineups...

anyway, this is the stan thread, and i still think he looks a lot like the late career mwp we got, which was good. is he a good shooter? no. is he good enough at other things to warrant playing time? yes.

I saw him at Mater Dei, the most dominant ive ever seen was Tyson Chandler. He looked like David Robinson playing children lol

Really solid outing for Stan. Good to see him starting the 3rd Q.

Those wide open corner 3s... the looks are going to be there for him. Hope he can keep hitting them. Makes him that much more dangerous, but we need to lock him up on a 2 year deal before he hits too many of them.

really need to lock him up for two years. if we end up with him on a one-year deal, it's as big a failure as if we let him walk, imo.

Well for some guys a come to jesus moment is what you need: this guy went from being a bust and Massai Ujuri telling him to his face that he wasn't good enough to looking like a very competent roleplayer.

I mean he looks like he has some nice offensive skills out there outside of the 3 point shot. He's got a nice handle for a bigger dude and he's shown nice flashes passing.
Just looks like a keeper and guy you can't really target on offense and defense - that's all you can ask for in a guy who can guard multiple positions next to Lebron/AD

The reason why we haven’t extended him to a more permanent contact is someone like AD2 might be released/waived, he’s like Jones before useful but not sexy enough :LLLLLebronlaughing:
