Russell Westbrick Discussion: Clipper Gonna Clip

I’ve been a supporter of what he brings to the team the more I’ve seen him seem to get better and be progressing. But stupidity and carelessness so many times in the same game yesterday while owning none of that and seemingly oblivious to it has put me over the edge about him. I don’t think it’s hopeless because (possibly naively) I think with the proper “intensity”, let’s say, common sense seems to me that both LeBron and Vogel (who are highly motivated to win another championship) …. OUGHT to be able to get through to that thick head of his. Someone needs to jump in his s***! What’s the worst that could happen …. a blowup and he’s hell bent to opt out next year and leave?

Okay, I’m not going to say anything about the2016 date because he gets his flowers from me for playing a controlled game.

 

Loved that Lakers went with Lebron/Monk two man game to finish the game: it kept the best clutch player in the league from having to save the day.

 

Was nice to see Russ turn up the defensive intensity on Fox and Hield. Him and AB got after them in the fourth.

 

i only saw the first half, and russ was pretty bad, imo. he must have been better in the second?

and i actually thought reaves did a good job on fox, despite it being a tough matchup for him defensively. fox got bailed out by the refs once and hit a tough stepback that i'd beg him to take on another occasion.

anyway, back to russ: i actually saw him box a guy out in the first half, and it's one of the first times i noticed it this year.

 

His horrible FG% (33% on 2's 0% on 3s) while hogging 19 attempts and dishing only 2 assists makes up for the lack of turnovers and an otherwise decent game.

 

yeah, again, i only saw the first half, but i saw him take two or three bad jumpers in early offense and just have trouble getting himself to spots he wanted on offense. then he finally got a clean look at an open three and clanked it.

people are ready to close the book on THT's career for similar play, imo.

 

Meh...selective criticism. The guy only attempted 1 3 pointer all game, and was second on the team in rebounding too. He also didn't shoot 33% from the floor either.

 

The difference with Talen is that when he does that, he usually wilts and ends up with 5 pts or something, without hitting the boards or having many assists. I chalk it up to youth, young guys play with more confidence when they are scoring.

 

That's correct.

He was better in the second.

He's clearly declining, though.
