Completely agree. I expected us to struggle. I didn’t expect them to not care.

All other issues aside, LeBron, AD, and Russ playing hard should be more than enough to handle the Kings.

"Don't mistake activity for achievement. To produce results, tasks must be well organized and properly executed; otherwise, it's no different from children running around the playground—everybody is doing something, but nothing is being done; lots of activity, no achievement."

yeah, i've only been mad about 4 losses this year: the two okc games, minny, and now this one. all of those just reeked of not giving a s***. as have several of the wins, tbh.

the kings are terrible. the guy on their team that scares me most (holmes) wasn't even playing. you can't lose to them. you can't even go to OT against them. just a really embarrassing effort, night after night.

i honestly fully expected us to beat sac like a drum last night. i'm really stupid.

edit: and you know why holmes scares me? he never lets up. it makes it hard for his teammates to slack off, too.

Didn't think he was going to have to be dragging Bron and AD with him before December.

It seems he will be dragging AD more than anyone expected if this continues.

I think it’s time for a thread title change. He’s not bricking so much anymore and is actually playing with a ton more effort than the other two big stars, especially AD who really is bricking relentlessly.

    Changed it.

    Until he bricks again.

He didn't shoot great in the Indiana game.

He's played 3 outstanding games most recently: Det, NY, and Indiana.

But the assist to turnover ratio has been better.

25 on an efficient 10-16, 9, 6, only 3 turnovers, very little to complain about with Russ lately, he’s playing very well. Oh god I hope I didn’t just jinx it.

Glad to see him shutting me up. He still needs to improve his off ball defensive focus. That being said, he’s not the only one on the team that needs to make big strides in this category.

    18. DET - Good
    19. NYK - Good
    20. IND - Good
    21. SAC - Good
    22. DET - Good

    Good: 50%
    Average: 32%
    Bad: 18%

    -----

Over the last 11 games (Miami onwards) - he is averaging 22/8/9 while shooting 49/35/73. His TO's are trending downwards and he has been quite good defensively in the zone, but still needs to improve his man D.

That's about as good a third option as you're going to find in the league. If Lebron and AD can round into top form and Westbrook keeps this up, we're going to win a lot more games moving forward.

I still don't understand how he can miss so many layups, but I cannot fault his intensity and sustained effort. Keep shooting those corner threes, Russ.

When you break down his shooting numbers over the last 11 games - they’re surprisingly great.

He is shooting 61.5% at the rim, 51.4% from mid range and 63.6% from the corner 3’s.

The two main areas where he is struggling - 36% from the non RA in the paint and 29% from 3’s above the break.

He is still taking too many 3’s above the break (3.3 a game) and we need to get him taking those from the corners where he is red hot currently. I think a big reason for this is Russ launches up 3’s late in the clock when there is nothing happening, he lets it fly based on his irrational confidence. If we can develop our offence, we should be able to really cut down on this and get Westbrook shooting around 35% from 3 - which is huge for our spacing going forward.

Secondly, that non restricted area in the paint - he has always been kind of average from there compared to Nash, CP3 or Curry. All those guys have floaters when they can’t get all the way to the rim.

Houston cut down on these shots for Russ by having him attack in transition or on secondary attacks when the defence would breakdown with a double against James.

We know AD and Lebron can work well offensively, if we get Westbrook providing some spacing it should really open things up. But we need to improve our offence and I’m not sure Vogel is the guy who can do that.
