If we had better health and just made one good trade for a shooter with size, I would feel pretty confident about making the playoffs, and even making some noise once there. As is... nah, it's too late. This is a team that makes two steps forward, one step back, and it's not quite enough to really catch up. We need a serious winning streak -- which is only possible with AD+Reaves+Lonnie and a new player who is 6-7 or 6-8 and can shoot.

This is recent run is how I envisioned Russ playing when he joined the lakers. He defended really well against Luka and even went against Embiid in the last possession. On top of nice scoring and really great play making. It took a year and a half to get to this point.

I just thought AD was going to be healthy for defence and the easy offence Russ could create for him too.

i think the way it had to happen was from a bench role, though, which couldn't have happened without last year's epic fail--and he was terrible last year.

if he wants to be a sixth man here, i'm down for re-upping him at a better rate.

Ding ding ding, Bogs fits the bill. And true it's all about getting that help now, not at the deadline. I broke it down but our next 12 games up to Feb 9th, 9 of them are against teams over .500, a bunch are on the road, and among those we face are the top tier: Memphis, Bucks, Nets, Celts, NO. Only three games upcoming against sub. 500. Even then we face Portland in their house which is always tough for us. If we wait until the deadline to improve the roster I think we may very well have missed our chance at salvaging the season. Or at the least it will be a very difficult uphill climb.

Yes, we absolutely need help ASAP if we want to compete. Otherwise, we'll just lose a bunch of games and eventually have a relatively easy finish of the season... but by then it's just going to be too late.

Agreed. But at least he’s actually of some value on the court. We had many chats last year where people said him staying home was more useful than reporting for work.

I thought he could turn it around but I really didn’t expect him too. It’s been a real humbling.

8 out of 15 would be nice. Still more than most teams even at that point. I don't care for turnstyle team building. But especially if it isn't working. If you are winning, you can handle having the Morris's of the world on your squad, but if not, some of our signings are embarrassments to the franchise.

I fully confess having issues with my favorite player actually playing for my team. I watch sports for enjoyment, and haven't found much joy in a long time with this team. I'm glad you are experiencing something different recently, and I sincerely hope it continues. There is always hope, but they may have lost my engagement (Along with many other long time fans) for awhile. I'm sure they are all broken up about that. And I'm a super long time dedicated fan.

But if fans continue to pay big prices for an inadequate product, and the front office doesn't feel a price for their decisions, you can be sure nothing will change. As I see it, fans engaging and participating with a sub .500 team with (3) future HOF'ers are part of the problem. You can say it's because you are a superfan, and I'll get you, but the fact remains that if fans watch, they continue to get the money. If you continue to buy souvenirs and merchandise, you are part of the problem.

But don't get me wrong, if they are close to making the playoffs, I'll tune in to see a game to two to see if it's enjoyable. If they make the playoffs, I may catch a game or two. If they are playing great, I may intentionally look at my calendar and reserve some time. (I used to know when EVERY Single game was, but no more) The stuff I watched was mostly a horrible style of basketball. ONLY because the West is weak this year do they have a prayer of making the top 10. ONLY because it's now a top 10 do they have a prayer of playing their way into the playoffs if things break right. That's embarrassing.

I'll keep my griping to a minimum so I don't lower the overall mood of the superfans still here and willing to put up with this product. Kudos to you, but at the end of the day, they don't even give stickers out for that. /end rant

He’s of use now on offense, but he costs the team on defense- every single game. I’ve tried warming up to him, but he will never gain my respect until he stops camping in the lane and actually plays defense when off ball. It’s so bad that I have to tell myself to not watch him on that end of the floor. If I do, my blood pressure suffers.

how do you have this take on a team with the 6th highest payroll? thats pretty much the take during the tanking era

I understand what you’re saying. But what about his defence on Luka? Or harden and embiid?

I look at the 8 games that went down the line and ill luck fell on our side. I look at the poor health again. We are better than any tanking team we had with all these things going wrong. If we had better luck we are top 3 in the west. To me we’re a 60-65% win rate team. With a trade we are higher.

again, i think those points were accurate. we were better when he wasn't playing last year. that's not true this year, and that's good. nobody wants to hear it, but it kinda vindicates the FO for not paying to dump him in the summer.

23 pts 8 rebs 8 assists. Russ is far from being washed, and on his way out of the League.

Does not mean he didn't suck donkey balls last year, regardless of whether LeBron and AD TOGETHER played only X number of games or not. He had his chances last year to be Russ of old as well when one or the other was out of the lineup same as this year. (though this year's rest of the roster is much better than last year's in spite of the "we suck" comments). Am happy for the team this year and happy for Russ .... just hope you're not implying for the 100th time that he had excuses for that wretched play.

Will be interesting to see if some other team, based on his bench play this year, is indeed willing to pay him to start. Doubt it but we'll see. Come off the bench as a super sub for 15M ish ... maybe. Maybe even us.

Him and Lebron figured out how to play together. Their 2 man net rating is +10.4 which is the best combo on the team. (Edit: Lebron and Gabriel are +22.8 but sample size is much smaller)
