The only way this can work is if we stagger AD, Lebron and Russ. Westbrook gonna have to come off the bench (super sub guard like Manu).

Lebron/AD at the 4/5 a question mark too so there’s other issues on top of the Russ situation

If Russ is here, in his contract / rest of his career year, he will not agree to come off the bench. Non starter. Ham will have to figure everything else out but that if he has any hope of getting Russ to play and actually be a plus contributor.

Seems it’s getting more likely that Russ is back. If we want him to be successful, we need to stagger his minutes on ball with Lebron’s. We should be able to get each 24 mins of on ball time. And Russ has to really turn up his play making in those minutes because that’s where his value comes from.

Secondly, ham has to get him to buy in as a point of attack defender, we all know he has the capability. He just needs to embrace the role (not likely).

Lastly, on offence; he needs to finish his layups, because he is still a dynamo getting to the rim, he needs to set far more screens which the coaching staff should improve and lastly he needs to run a lot more pick and roll with AD that showed some nice moments here and there last season.

As a team we are really missing one good 3&D shooter to plug in next to Russ, Lebron, AD and Bryant to balance out that starting unit. (Laments about TJ, the one that got away)…

Also doesn’t anyone else find the rebounding thing weird? I get Russ could have rated badly last season as a rebounder. But he is one of the best PG rebounders of all time.

I don't think we plan on playing AD at the 5 as much this season. Against some teams in closing perhaps, but not a full-time 5.

It's going to be interesting how this offense looks. Ham specifically said that we won't be standing around while one guy pounds the rock for 18 seconds. That's a direct shot a Lebron IMO. That's totally his MO.

This is such a terrible clip. Russ doesn’t even try to keep a body on Bev and his entry pass to a calling Lebron is just the wrong move but it’s what happened so often because Lebron wanted to get his numbers.

Also Lebron on D is atrocious. Barely contests the jumper and then doesn’t even try to get back.

Both of those guys need a good old Ham kick up the a**.

Lebron's D sucked last year for the most part but not on that play. An off balance mid range shot is the most in-efficient shot in basketball.

Russ OTOH - man I really hope he is long gone. He really only plays with energy and effort if the ball is in hands

Those exactly are the repetitive brain fart off ball defensive lapses that happened all season and are inexcusable. Period. For a guy who is a super max player and has been in the league all these years. Shouldn't happen in junior high for chrissakes. LeBron and AD playing way too few games has nothing to do with that kind of buffoonery.

russ picking up his dribble in space so his man could double (and then freaking throwing it anyway!) is just...what's the opposite of chef's kiss? i mean, you're a hofer. you've played for 14 years. a dude would get pulled from the jv for the two plays in that clip.

But it’s not Russ’s fault, AD and Bron only played in 21 games.

I find both Russ and Lebron’s plays in that clip in excusable. That’s just not winning basketball.

Ha..ha..confusing one thing with another..cute. And so....for the 99th time... If they only play in 21 games this season, nothing else will matter. The same way it didn't matter in the season previous. Top rated defense and all. I guess that season was all on Dennis Schroder, with his NBA top 10 rated PG defense, no less.

Westbrook is a chode. Go ask his former agent, he will tell you the same. He knew him for 14 years. So.......ya.

The effort and IQ displayed here by Russ is just..inexcusable. And that’s what we were subjected to all last season. And as little faith as I have in this FO, I DO have faith he will be gone, because fans won’t tune in to watch a s*** product, and the Lakers are all about money as they must be as this is the Buss family business. Jeanie isn’t a billionaire that can just use the team as her personal shiny toy or thing to brag about, she’s got to put out a watchable product. As much as we have the potential to suck this season, we will be more entertaining for sure because we went younger and got players that play with more fun to their games. So that’s something at least.

Confusing one thing with another…..wait, isn’t that what you’ve been doing for most of this year? Russell Westbrook has been bad, stat wise, eye test wise, every way you can judge a player wise. AD and Bron missed a lot of games last year. Both statements are true. Confusing one thing for the other is saying Russ was bad because of AD and Bron playing only 21 games.

No. You're the one. Using their lack of playing time with Russ to excuse (or maybe with you the better word is just ignore) how bad Russ was this season all on his own. For the 300th time all of us know the other about LeBron and AD not being available is why the team sucked so bad we missed the playoffs completely. You're not onto something.

LOL .... edit .... I see Cookie already said the same thing. Word.

BINGO...The last part is what You posted.

What I've been doing all year is pointing out, that even if Westbrook was everything you could have hoped and dreamed for..it wouldn't mean jack, if Lebron and AD only played in 21 games together .
    period.. end of story.
Doesn't absolve Westbrook of anything. That was never my intention.
