Randle would need to moved elsewhere though, as you can't pay that kind of money for an undersized talent you when you already have the position covered.

Hopefully this season Lebron and AD will be out there filling in the blanks, instead of alternating in street clothes.

Which means that we'd have to add something with him, to make him more attractive than the Knicks could.

Knicks didn't want salary back for the most part, so 3 way probably is a more likely scenario.

I think they cleared enough to go after Brunson. I wonder if they miss out on him they'll be more interested in a trade with us to clear the books for next free agency.

If you think they aren’t trying HARD to move him without giving up a first or taking on salary / players that “conflict” too much with internal plans you’re delusional. Same old **** who to believe …. our own eyes and every single reputable NBA source stating it … or Slick saying the exact opposite.

He may be here, and he may play better, and yeah you should have taken the bet, big whoop I wouldn’t post for a month …. but that is a load of steaming horse crap you keep spreading about how he didn’t suck this year and find excuses for it, or that the Lakers haven’t been trying hard to get off of this additional year with him.

Saying that you aren't giving up 1st round pick or taking back injury risks owed long term money, isn't exactly trying awfully hard to move a player either. If those reputable "sources " knew soo much, they'd be employed somewhere to make those type of calls. Seriously do you realize how flat out wrong a lot of these popular takes are every season? For decades

Believe whatever you want LT, and you can explain whatever happened away, in any manner you like. It's cool if you have a lot of company on the subject as far as I'm concerned. Me..the main thing is always the main thing. AD and Lebron are what makes this clock tick. AD and Lebron playing together is magic, separately, we still suck. If they play a full season, this upcoming season will be great, if they don't, it will suck. With Westbrook playing light outs in both scenarios, that's why I'm not overly worried about Russell Westbrook. I see him and his contract as an asset. The most valuable one we have at the moment.
For some reason this makes me a Westbrook Stan, Whatever, I was a diehard fan of this team before that young man was even born. I just don't see some things in the same lens as you do. Slick doesn't really give a damn about what the crowd thinks. You already know this by now.

The reason Randle isn’t a good option is because when the playoffs roll around he is going to play from the bench when it matters.

Lebron is best suited at the PF currently, AD is best suited as a small ball Center during the playoffs. Randle also makes AD play Center throughout the regular season which isn’t ideal.

And it’s not about keeping Russ, I was fine with trading him for Kyrie because we win that trade. Randle seems to be the contract year player who outperformed and then cruised. He is also the Westbrook of PFs in a position where our two best players cover. Not smart.

no. randle can play center in today's nba. he's somehow a better shooter than russ, and if someone's going to not guard one of my guys on the perimeter, i prefer it be a guy that can punish on the offensive glass.

they're both hard to play with on defense because of their low hoop iq, but at least randle's large and younger.

we didn't make the playoffs with russ, and he should have been on the bench in the regular season. in the playoffs, we've seen first-hand what to do with him. ignore him and win.

really can't get over how folks can't see how much russ actively hurt the team last year. that's 40% of your cap that you'd rather just...not be there.

irony is while we're saying we're too good for it, ny has already rejected it.

Knicks mistake was to make Randle the number 1 option. Here he’d be the 3rd option and fit nicely with Lebron and AD.

Defensively he’s quick enough to guard non-centers. Strong enough to hold his own against bigs. AD would have to play C which isn’t ideal imo.

Offensively he can stretch the floor. He can be that secondary ball handler that we’re trying to find for Lebron but in forward form instead of guard.

Most importantly Russ would be gone and we’re also adding another serviceable player or two along woth Randle.

Edit: also one of the few trade ideas where we’re not getting back an injured player. I mean, the dude survived Thibs

Lebron, AD and Randle all operate in the same areas. Pass from me. But then I’m not the front office but it wouldn’t shock me if they don’t look at it seriously either.

He set legendary moving picks for Kobe in his final amazing game. I’d sign him, but not at that number unless some bargain basement talent came with him.

we’re talking about letting him walk away for nothing versus essentially paying him the max now

    doesn’t make much sense

if that's true, then you must be committing to not playing a center at all?

and i do feel like there were reports that we asked ny to take russ for randle/fournier or something like this, and they hung up quickly.

I’m keen for a 3&D Center. Bamba, Lopez, Turner etc. A rim protector that doesn’t need the ball in their hands and can spot up.

Randle likes to receive the ball in the same spots as AD does and then proceeds to break down his defender off the dribble. He did shoot 40% one season but that seems to be an outlier. He also likes too much usage to work in our front court, and isn’t a rim defender.

I also haven’t seen those reports, it’s possible, but they want Brunson and have promised him his own team. Randle is also a terrible contract - 4 years? We saw Randle and AD in New Orleans - it didn’t work.

we can't get turner or bamba. and serious question: if we can get lopez, do we want him? it would mean that the team that won a ring with him in the role we want doesn't want him anymore.

guys wanting to do things doesn't have to be what they do. for instance, what we had AD doing last year was ridiculous. if he wants that, needs to be persuaded to want other things. this is where coaches are supposed to earn their money, imo.

and AD's a rim defender. i don't think we're in position to get another one, tbh.

bad contracts are our only option other than flushing another season, i think.

I’d be over the moon to have a frontcourt of Bron, AD and Randle.
