I think this is a fair assessment by Pincus. I’m not going to panic on the buzz around us keeping Russ. If a trade doesn’t end up happening, I have enough confidence in Rob that it would be because no good packages emerged, not some delusional perspective that Russ can actually work.

I understand the logic behind extending him for team building’s sake but the dude NEGATIVELY impacts the Franchise in all the ways we’ve discussed over and over again.

but again, the only way to get significantly under the cap after next year is if lebron doesn't extend (and/or re-signs for way under the max). if lebron comes back at his near 50 million number, he, AD, and THT are already 100 million. that leaves 20 million under the cap (it may rise again, but not by a ton) but with roster charges, etc., you're looking at MLE type cap space (might as well just be over the cap). even if you drop THT for nothing, you're still not in the big fish area and have tons of holes to fill.

add in that no big names will likely be FAs next summer, and i don't see how a cap space plan works--unless lebron takes a HUGE cut (a la tim duncan/dirk).

Yeah, I wasn’t really even paying much attention to that fist tweet that Pincus was responding to.

Mainly just agreeing with the point that we’re considering all options, what’s being reported isn’t necessarily the absolute truth by the time we hear about it, and it’s too early to know how things will shake out.

extending him makes him infinitely more tradeable though, so maybe that becomes a consideration

If the intent is to get under the cap, both Westbrook and Lebron have to go.

I don’t know what the blocked out word is haha. But good to see you too!

My position has only changed slightly - last year it was, our best chance of contending in that season was to get the most out of Westbrook.

My position now is, the best option we have right (unless we trade for Kyrie or Simmons or something) to contend next season is to get the most out of Westbrook and put a better team around him AD and Lebron.

Where my stance has changed is, I would of liked Westbrook to extend for 15m per for 3 years because at that price point he is a valuable player and trade chip for something like Luka. Now I’d rather we just let him expire and see what we can do instead.

Boom goes the last of the Brick dynamite. Just saw a tweet and then lost it so looking again, that this guy is now formally requesting a trade. So we’re over a barrel and screwed. The gift that keeps on giving. F***head.

S*** now I can’t find it. It popped up on my phone (I think maybe Hoopshype) and before reading it after signing in I wanted to save the link in case not posted here yet, been gone several hours. But hit wrong button and it went away. Searches now not bringing anything up. Would be happy in this case to find out I was hallucinating. :speechless:

Oh good! Happy for that! I just saw the headline briefly and not even the bottom part with the teams. Would rather be mocked than right on that one. :p

Can you call someone a choker for how bad they play defense in crunch time or is that only reserved for missed shots?

Russ may well be the worst defender in the league. What chaps my hide is that it is not an issue of physical limitation for him. He just can't be bothered to carry out his assignment on that side of the court.

that's why his sacrifice talk just slayed me. dude, you can't be bothered to even pay attention on defense, just shut up about your struggle. just unbelievable that he sits through film sessions and isn't shamed into better team defense. f*** off.

Maybe, if the Lakers include a draft pick. ;)
