i'd attach a first if decent players are coming back. if it's sub-average rotation players on longer deals, no pick or you give me a pick.

i agree. expirings dipped in value for a while, but they've been making a comeback.

rob should be able to find a way out of this, imo.

Agreed. Or, if there is no good deal to be made, have his punk a$$ sit at home for the season. This is a better option than getting bogged down by multiple bad contracts or having his black hole self out there negatively impacting the team.

i'm iffier on just sending him home, though i totally see how folks arrive at that conclusion.

i think it's weird that management had last offseason to build a team to suit russ's strengths and just didn't. sort of how russ said he's adjust and just didn't.

not a lot of confidence right now, hoping rob does something good and unexpected.

And he needs to buy a new set of hands so he can hold onto the ball.

Just use him for a practice dummy and never put him in during a game...lol We can keep that expiring contract for ourselves.

Some scrub franchise will surely trade for his triple doubles and give us something decent in return just to get his expiring contract.

depends in part on whether lebron extends. if he does, russ expiring does very little for us, tbh. we wouldn't get far enough under the cap (and the available FAs may be pretty meh).

Luol Dung treatment for a year. If he complains show him the various sideboard shots and unforced turnovers lowlights he incurred

    Here’s a interesting thought…

Would the Lakers actually keep Westbrook if he agrees to a 3 year extension at $15 mil/season? We would have to pay him his $43 mil this season and essentially can have him at a decent salary for what he does moving forward.

It would open up salary cap space in the following summer because we have Lebron expiring, and basically only AD and a cap friendly Westbrook on the books. We might actually be able to afford some respectable starters and cast members.

it's already been discussed publicly; don't be surprised if he signs an extension. wonder if he's waiting on jokic's extension, just to make sure that we can't be a player in FA anyway. then secure the bag.

see above (i think lebron's extending).

but yeah, svtzr and i (and maybe slick) were pushing that idea early in the year. what if he opted out and signed for 3/60 or something. we suddenly have more flexibility. i just think he was so bad for chemistry and hated it so much here that that's impossible now.

Yeah I was keen on Westbrook extending earlier in the year. I’m in the let him expire camp right now. He just isn’t a great fit and unless that changes this year - thanks but no thanks.

All in for 2023 and let Lebron and Westbrook expire. Sign TJ Warren for next year and see if he is past his foot issues and can be a 3rd banana for AD. Look to Luka to take the keys with a good team ready for him.

yeah, that would be my plan, but lebron's extension is a major player here. if he really re-ups, and we can't trade westbrook, it's possible that extending him (at a much lower rate) also makes sense, as we won't be able to operate under the cap anyway.

    Hold the hell up.

So, I had to deal with months in Game Time and in this thread of the s***ti*** WB commentary from @svtzr all to come to the conclusion that this board has known for months?

    Good grief, man.

    ROFL.

LOL. That won't happened until he's traded or expires here next year with us.

I’ve felt this way from the start. We don’t have to get fleeced on a deal here and it seems like the front office understands that.

I’m not quite sure how to take the pro-Russ staying talk. I lean toward bluff though. Just tough to see either side really wanting to keep this going. The team didn’t work on or off the court. I still can’t get over how miserable they looked out there.

it’s the main reason I don’t think we can ride it out to next years trade deadline. I can easily see us getting off to a bad start and completely mailing it in. This group showed over and over it couldn’t bounce back when punched in the face.

If a sound deal pops up I think we need to make it.

anything that returns at least two useful rotation players and doesn't cost a first is a win, imo. we'll never recover the value we gave up, but we don't have to just take crap and then pay picks on top of it.

porzingis netted bertans and dinwiddie, didn't cost the mavs any picks, and his deal isn't even expiring.

we should be able to do better than that, imo. again, a hayward/rozier for russ deal makes sense to me. things like that.
