Russ simply backing into the paint and eating up the space seemed to counter that giving him room stuff. There was an article about it I posted on some thread. It also mentioned the younger guys doing a better job of cutting to the basket off of that action.

You’re a smarter X and O’s operator than I am. Are you trying to tell me that you don’t see a way in which Russ, AD and Lebron could run a potent offense with let’s say Nunn and Myles Turner (or Brook Lopez) next to them?

First of all, we could run the AD and Russ pnr, with 2 spot up shooters and Lebron on the weak side, we could run the Lebron and AD pnr with Russ waiting for his man to overhelp from the weak side. We could do both of these with Turner or Lopez in a pick and pop. We could run a horns or elevator set with Lebron or Nunn and the bigs and Russ. We could run curls and screens for shooters with our bigs. We can post up any of AD, Lebron or WB - all are big for their positions.

Just because it didn’t work with Vogel, doesn’t mean it can’t work. We even saw Vogel add some wrinkles to our offence late in the season with Westbrook posting up and better floor layout to give Russ space - this worked with Dwight and Lebron sharing the floor with him.

Wings and bigs are just more valuable defensively. For as good as Caruso and Lonzo are, they’ll never have the impact of AD or a Giannis defensively.

Russ biggest issue in my opinion was over helping and allowing the defence to break down that way. His ball watchibg was a problem but not as much as the over helping in my opinion. I wish they had challenged him to be the primary defender on smaller PGs and SGs - he plays better on ball defence.

Well he certainly didn't make himself more likable after that PC, that is for sure.

As bad as most fans want him out, Russ may want out, too.

We both may have a neutral interest here to part ways.

    Call it irreconcilable differences.

i don't see any scenario that russ comes back. he's clearly over it and so is lebron

we tried, it failed, move on. russ was never going to be a good fit alongside lebron and AD

If he wanted out, he would have shut up. If I'm a GM, I wouldn't trade for him if he was the last NBA player on the planet.

I think he wants out, IMO.

And we're hoping there's a GM dumb enough to take him.

Once he is gone I think most of here will all breath a big sigh of relief.

If he wants out he can decline his player option. He won’t do that though, because he doesn’t want out that bad.

Yeah... This is Smush level right there. May be even worse, at least Smush pitched in in the playoffs.

After reading the things that Lebron and AD have said about Westbrook today, I don't think they want him gone at all. I'd be interested in seeing these things that people are alluding to ,implying where they are giving off that vibe in some way.

Nuts and bolts on the situation for me...Go and get me a bigman for Westbrook Rob! I'm absolutely down with that. These injury prone guards and forwards owed more money than him moving forward? Hell No on that. I'm not buying into the get rid of Russ at all cost stuff.

I’m not trying to be mean, in all honesty did you watch the season?

It’s insane that any fan wants Russ meet this team.

He brought his selfish attitude that he always had to our team. Assuming that he’s change because we’re the lakers was wishful thinking.

On paper, a lot of the stuff you said make sense.

hell I was fustrated why Russ didn’t just run the p n r with AD, I was saying this every game during the beginning of the season.

IMO it was a conscious decision not to, and to half a** it and turn it over later.

His defense was atrocious as well, I never met such a dense and entitled player.

Pick and roll of Russ/AD will just have both defenders going under and staying close to AD and giving up the Russ midrange J.

    Good teams counter that easily.

Why would you decline $47 million dollars. .

    That's just foolish.

He'll opt in because it's the smart thing to do.

And hopefully we can trade him afterwards.

It really just depends, if there’s a switch and his effort is there he can make drive in against a bigger slower defender

    assuming it’s another 4 guarding AD on a P n R situation.

A mid range Russ j is better than a russ brick from the 3. He should be shooting 3s as much as a non shooting role player would pre 7 second era.

The goal is to get easy baskets and the pick and roll is just the best and easiest options in the half court because certainly this team wasn’t running. Which was a terrible and now we know Russ had something to do with it.

Russ should be passing to AD 90% of the time when he’s rolling to the basket if the passing lane is there.

He definitely shouldn’t be using the screen to Jack up jump shots like he loves to do at our displeasure.

This works given that AD rolls to the basket for high percentage shots and not picking and popping.

Not many people are going to turn down $47 mil.

Nobody’s paying this dude big money anymore IMO . His value diminished exponentially this season.

I hope we can get some good pieces from a team looking to dump salary and rebuild.

I really hope we don’t need to endure another full season with Russ on this team.

Let’s get him some burn, pad his stats and market him.

Outside of the bubble year. Russell Westbrook has achieved more team success over the last 10 years than the Los Angeles Lakers. Also more than any player on this team besides Lebron James.

I can't get over that article where he blasted Frank and the coaches, by saying that they didn't have one single conversation about his role on this team, after the trade, during camp or even at that point of the season. Frank didn't deny it either, he said the injuries made it complicated. However there were no injuries prior to camp. Not one single sit down at all? This was a huge move, made on draft night. That's amazing to me.
