not to keep after it, but again: how is one to coach in this situation? which person gets westbrook to buy into playing a different style? who gets him to play defense?

answer: nobody. not on his next team, either. his next team should know (as we should have) that he will not change, period. they'll have to lean all the way into russ or cut him. if not, they'll be firing their coach.

I know beggars can’t be choosers, so we’d be lucky to convert Westbrook’s expiring contract into productive players like Brogdon and Hield.

But I like the Rozier/Hayward idea MUCH more. On paper I think they’d be great fits, and if Hayward could actually stay healthy that would be a huge X factor.

Brogdon seems just as injury prone lately as Hayward, and he has a longer contract. Plus, he’s not the best perimeter shooter so I don’t know how well he fits with Lebron.

I do like Hield quite a bit. Despite his defensive shortcomings, I think having a deadeye shooter like that along Lebron and AD would open up the game so much. But Monk for the mini-MLE is simply a much better value. I guess the benefit of acquiring Hield would mean that Monk is likely gone so that frees up the mini-MLE to go to another position of need, but I’m not sure if that would be for the best.

Even if we could make some offense work with a new coach, which I don't believe, I still don't think we are a playoff team with Russ. Even being generous he is a horrible defender. Combine that with Lebron not playing any defense other than to make a spectacular block once in awhile so he can flex his muscles we would be terrible defensively. As good as AR and AD are on defense they can't make up for that. Who knows who the fifth guy would be. Monk can score like crazy but then you have three guys not playing defense. My issue with firing Frank is the next coach will have the same offense because the coach has no control. Lebron will dribble and shoot, not play any defense and then dribble and shoot........... Lebron could still be a big asset as second or third option but as a number one you aren't going anywhere. (except fishing)

I still don't think Westbrook is going anywhere honestly. However 47 million dollars is a hell of a lot of cap space coming off the books, and frankly most teams in the NBA don't really give a damn about chasing Championships. (Charlotte).

So in the same statement: he admits he was too relaxed at times but also feels he wasn't give a fair shot? Like I don't know maybe one things leads to another: any thoughts on that

What an absolute jacka**, self awareness level non-existent. Probably now my least favorite Laker of all time.

Yeah. I tried to remember some Lakers (who were actually supposed to be good, you know) I ended up liking less... but I can't think of anyone.

Also, he just does not understand that it's pretty much irrelevant what you average. What is relevant is whether you find the way to win... or lose. He definitely found the way to lose, by being abysmal shooter, a turnover machine, and having zero awareness on defense.

I mean, Fish averaged 11/3/4 in 2000. Horry averaged 5/4/2. Rick Fox... 10/4/3. But they contributed in many ways. Playing defense and hitting important shots being some of those.
