I’ve been saying this since day one, dude is straight up dumb.

In terms of basketball IQ and general IQ.

He basically has a boys mentality and approach to things.

Lol so many people were convinced he was just trolling reporters in interviews and postgame interviews.

nah man, he’s just that dumb and can’t comprehend the questions nor come up with any type of intellectual reply.

man I knew his faults but I didn’t know it was this bad. Given that I don’t really watch other teams anymore unless they play us.

This dude makes to cringiest decisions, He has no excuse at 44 mil 10 + years as a vet in the nba and this dude can’t play better than a rec player?

I honestly think it’s half on purpose. Saying that he can’t play efficiently if he doesn’t play his way (get his way)

I was never high on Russ and even less when we got him. I wasn’t thrilled but it did peak my curiosity on how it would work out.

    Well, curiosity kills.

Im hoping we can dump his salary for some usable pieces immediately starting next season.

At the time, I found this amusing.

I really shouldn’t have. This quote pretty much encapsulates so much of what is wrong with Russ.

I wonder if he will opt in to his 47 million player option next year due to current circumstances....

The most appalling thing about him is that he feels entitled to start and close based on previous numbers. Now you know for 100% certain that this guy has always been about one thing and one thing only. Numbers. The worst kind of player. Really athletic, should have been a wide receiver. Not a basketball player.

his career bank account and longevity say he made the right choice, career-wise.

your other point is, of course, spot on: he clearly doesn't understand where he's at, and it hurts the team (and him, really). i'm not sure there's a way out. none so blind as those who won't see.

That’s a very interesting aspect to all this. Westbrook is one of the few who would have enough “FU” attitude to decline his player option if he’s unhappy. He would do this because he has a delusional perception of his current abilities and worth.

He might do it thinking he can sign another max contract as a free agent lol. I mean, his career stats speak for itself right?

It would be a huge favour to the Lakers too because now we don’t have to entertain trade ideas of giving up future assets just to dump him.

Having said that, what do you think Westbrook’s value is if he’s a free agent this summer?

To me, I don’t think a team offers him more than the non-taxpayer MLE… and even then, I don’t even know how many teams would want him on their roster in general at that price.

As weird as it sounds, the only teams I can think of are Washington and New Orleans. With Washington, They just traded Dinwiddie and don’t really have a option at point guard, and Westbrook did have some success paired up with Beal.

New Orleans makes less sense than Washington because they already now have 3 players that need the ball in their hands (CJ, Ingram, Zion), but they want to be competitive now to appease Zion… and Zion when healthy is the type of small ball center that Westbrook may be ok playing with. The only problem, which is why Westbrook is so unappealing to so many teams, is for Westbrook to be good you basically have to build your entire system around him. He is far from plug and play.

no way he turns down that money unless he's got smaller long term deal from us on the table. most he'd get on the open market is mle, and i'm honestly not sure anyone does this after witnessing his play and his response to his play this year.

i imagine his agent will pitch a kemba situation to us: we pay him 30 million to walk away, and he signs for the mle with whomever.

i'd say no. it doesn't help us enough. you come off the bench, or you're ben simmons without the fanfare.

I’m going to say this: it’s not Russ’s fault. He sucks but he’s still giving effort when he plays. After the game in Portland you have to look at Lebron and AD most of all because they lost to Nurk and a pickup YMCA level team that is trying to tank. Our two team leaders have given up. Lebron said as much after the Bucks loss and AD drove the point home with his zero FG attempts in the fourth v Portland. I don’t want to hear the fans booing Russ at Crypto anymore. Boo Rob the @$$hat. Boo Vogel etc for starting Ariza and playing him 30 plus minutes a game when you have Stanley Johnson who is 20 years younger and not an animated corpse.

I don't want this stinking drought any more and the lakes to fill up. Our chances are about equal. People on Lakers forums go to the games and Russ's attitude and comments sure won't help that situation if he keeps playing like he has.

He will be booed if he continues hitting the top of the backboard and has those idiotic turnovers. And rightfully so..

Whatever. I go to games too on the rare occasions I can afford to. But I won’t boo my own players. I didn’t like when they booed Kwame either. I find it annoying.

Have you seen Russell Westbrook play defense before? He’s not giving effort…

I never boo at games either. Won't boo home players and opposing players feed off of it and play better. But I just know the same folks will boo Russ if things aren't looking good out there. That line has been crossed already.
