There is zero chance that Nunn is worse than Russ.

There's a depressing argument to be made that Caruso, Kuz, and Trez are each more impactful without even adjusting for cap hit.

    The crowd reaction was brutal.

i said in the game thread to watch for frank to point to defense, but he pointed to both!

but i agree with everyone who's said the defense has been the issue. it's why i'm annoyed with him. you had to expect his offense to be what it is--it's been this way his whole career, even when he was good. but just not trying on defense is inexcusable. still reeling over him just escorting rj barrett's strong hand to the rim at a crucial point in the game. if he was a young player, he might not play the next game for that kind of stuff.

He was tanking. His body language shown that, imo.
I really believe he doesn't want to go the Knicks and that played a toll in his performance and engagement. He didn't even fought for rebounds, which is his specialty.

I think he'll have better games after the deadline.
We won the game because we sat him

I agree. Those 3 were more valuable because with them here, no Westbrook. That makes them already more valuable.

Not closing out on Reggie Jackson was it for me with Westbrook. That was a loud alarm so it was easy to explain that one. But even before that play and the cost it had, Westbrook has been playing defense like that all year and I am certain that it has cost the Lakers several other games.

Addition by subtraction must be the motivation at this point. I do not care what trade they make as long as Westbrook is gone. It doesn't matter if they win or lose the trade on paper. They win the trade in my eyes as long as he is a former Laker. That's where I stand on this.

i'd be on board, but addition by subtraction only works if the subtraction doesn't also add more problems. losing more assets for similarly problematic players/fits won't fix things, imo.

i keep hoping he'll be shamed into playing defense, but maybe this makes me stupid.

I think Vogel benched him last time because he LeVert go right and the everyone was told to force him left. That lack of attention to detail seems to be the last straw as the defense is planning for what you do up top

    He’s literally guarding nobody!
He’s in his usual “stay close to the paint so I can pad my rebounding stats” position.
If I were in Frank’s shoes, and knew I was a goner this summer, I would have already had Russ coming off the bench weeks ago.
Also, if Nunn were healthy, Russ wouldn’t be playing for me at all until he started giving max effort on defense.

That is why I’m not watching anymore, how dense can one player be, keep doing things that makes the whole team suffer

wonder if the gloves have come off in film sessions yet, with vogel knowing his days are numbered. if i were him, i'd be using this opportunity to make points to whomever would listen that when you gave me guys that don't buy in on team defense, you were tanking me.

He just stands there and watches his man do whatever they want. He's purposely tanking due to it being trade time, whether it's consciously or not. he's pulling a Luke Walton.

i'll say that one could probably cherry pick these on any player, but just watching the few games i do, they're easier to find for him.

both AD and lebron have done it this year (lebron more than AD, but even AD). the big point is that you can't afford to have this stuff from anyone--much less your team leaders--on a regular basis.

i saw some of the nets guys basically saying the same stuff i've seen our guys say all season long about effort and execution, too.

you can't just roll the ball out and out-talent nba teams.

He needs to get his act together and soon. AD and a Lebron are so good that they can win some DESPITE bad Westbrook games but they won’t win a playoff series that way. He has to take defensive responsibility out there. If he won’t then we won’t go far. We might not anyway but playing like this will definitely sink us.
