Yeah he needs to stay. He's become such an lethal shooter. His clutchness in the playoffs offsets all of his other weaknesses.
I don’t know what people want. Shooting (Number 1) and defense FG % are in the league top 3. A true 3nD player lol
His defense against the rockets big wings was top notch this series and his shooting was amazing. Big series next if he can have the same defensive impact you have to think about bringing him back. Rebounding and all.
Still the “if” against toughest defense in league. Stepping up in playoffs 4 straight years and as you stated played GREAT “3 and D” isn’t enough?? For Rui it has to be a new definition to get respect enough around here to want to keep him …. 3nDnR. Or perfect player. We cry the blues forever about not having 3 point shooting and here is a big strong dude who has really grown with his defense and is now the leading career 3pt % shooter in NBA history …. and it’s still not enough. Not all at you as there’s so many here that just assume he’s not a keeper and will be gone.
He’s a frustrating player, because he does a lot of dumb stuff, but man is he a playoff riser overall. I would take him back if no better options are available, but for less than he’s making now, and I’m not sure how that’ll go. Just don’t think you can go far with him as a starter, but as as a cheaper bench scorer, maybe. Still, this is kinda wild
Yeah I’m actually pretty pleased with his current salary. I don’t think he should take a big pay cut considering his production. He’s only making about $18.5 million and he gives you this? Why should he be getting less? I’m not sure with Rui. He showed us both 3 and D but his defense is strongest as a PF not as a wing at all. He’s best against big guys, not guards or even most 3s who are quicker than him. He’s probably not a great fit with Luka and AR as a starter so that limits him to a shooter off the bench role still. We just have a lot of holes in the roster and I’m unclear of our direction especially what will happen with LeBron and the money/space he takes up. He’s shown that he’s a good value player for his contract- I just don’t know if his lack of defensive awareness on the wing/guards will suit us moving forward. But I’d hate to lose him for nothing. It’s a bit of a quandary until the LeBron thing is figured out. At least it’s a good problem to have right now.
The whipping boy killed it again! So happy for you, Rui. Too bad he’s not Hakeem on defense nor Rodman on the boards.
First of all, I really like Rui - great team mate and locker room guy. Pretty good player and becoming a premier shooter. But it has to be an IF, we are trying to win a ring and that still goes through OKC. So Rui has to prove he can be a critical part of competing with OKC. Defensively, he is going to be on a combination of Chet, Jaylin Williams, Dort and Caruso/Wallace. He needs to stop his guys, with the big one being Chet. It's a huge series for him and if he does well it could be the difference between being an over or under the cap team. It's not a small decision.
