Honestly I'm not that worried about his weight. He's enormous and tall and has a strong core. These guys might muscle him, but he's just so large that he can challenge most post shots while standing on the ground.

He is still probably over 260. I don't think he will get pushed around much more than he would've at 280. If he is working as hard as it looks, his core is definitely stronger than it was last year. Plus like real said, his length will always be there to effect shots.

He was listed years ago at 270 lbs. Last year, he was probably around 290+. Now that he's lost weight, he's probably back to his usual 270-275, which is still pretty big in today's NBA.

Cousins scores on everybody and Greg Monroe 2.0 shouldn't worry you any more than the original Greg Monroe. As long as Roy continues being a brick wall that perimeter players are afraid to crash into, guys like Boogie and Okafor getting theirs isn't going to beat us.

I'm actually getting very excited to see what a motivated, contract year Hibbert can do for us on the court.

While also counting Lou, Randle, Russell, and that Kobe guy. Not to mention more minutes from Clarkson and Bass...

    Hmm...

Roy Hibbert wants to rediscover his game, not his fame, with the Lakers

Great piece. Besides our rookies in Randle and Russell I'm just as excited about what Hibbert is going to bring. I'd put serious money down that he's going to look great this year for us and just be someone we can count on the defense. Finally..... and not have to worry about him ever asking for touches. The guy knows his role and knows he needs to get better and have a great season. I hope it works out so we can sign him a again to another contract.

I love this article as well. Cool of Hibbert to swallow the trade kicker in order for us to pick up Bass and Lou. Picking up Hibbert really eased the pain for me of the choice of Russell over Okafor. I wanted a big desperately and Hibbert is a good one. And given his focus on defense he might ultimately be a better fit for us than Okafor would have been. He's still fairly young, too, at 28 and is obviously working hard towards returning to his old form. I'm excited about what he can do for us this season, and hopefully beyond. He could be our defensive anchor, and he's a smarter and more rounded C than DeAndre Jordan, although of course lacking the crazy athleticism. I'm hoping for good things from Hibbert.

I'll take Hibbert's elite team defense over DeAndre's pick and roll finishing, useless anchoring, and poor free throws any day.

I'd much rather have Jordan's talent, but he's clearly not a strong guy mentally. I'll take Hibbert though and I'm excited to see him play for us.

I still have my doubts about how strong Hibbert is mentally too, but I like his attitude.

He needs to prove to me that he won't crumble though. I want to see consistency, and more than that, rising to the occasion in pressure situations to wash the taste of him collapsing on the Pacers out of my mouth.

He admittedly gave up on himself whenever he would fail, and that's what lead to his decline in Indiana. A few bad playoff games just took him out for good.

I do like where he's at now. He seems like he's ready for a fresh start. It'll be challenging with the spotlight of the Lakers, but if there's one place that's going to make him, it's here. And with some headstrong guys like Byron and Kobe in the mix, to not get down on himself and block out the talk that goes on, I hope he can take that and build on himself rather than fall again. He has the tools to be an elite big man, and he's shown it, but he has to find that again, and it all starts mentally for him.
