Im sure Cuban will take care of Dirk after he retires. Either way, Dirk is set for 50 lifetimes ;)

I doubt it. I hate Bird, but he has integrity and his word counts for something.

Damn, I thought I would wake up and Hibbert would be signed. Any news on that front yet?

I don't think Dallas wants Hibbert, and won't give up any picks for a 1 year rental

Only reason would be if we dumped some of our guys there along with Hill. I mean they need the roster right?

    Indy in: Ellis
    Lakers in: Hibbert/2nd or two
    Dallas in: Hill/Kelly/Sacre

    Eh?

No, it will probably be done later today and everyone could rest 'easy.' I don't see Bird backing out. He went as far as already informing Hibbert he's headed to Los Angeles. There's no backing out.

I also don't think Bird would back out. I am certain there's a unwritten rule of ethics between GMs/owners that once they agree on a deal they should honor them.

Examples would be Phoenix agreed to send Marcus Morris to Detroit for literally nothing because they were speculating they needed the cap space to sign Aldridge. Aldridge chose the Spurs yet I fully expect Phoenix to honor their deal with Detroit.

The experienced GMs understand how to do business with each other. The deandre incident shows a lack of experience and unprofessionalism from doc rivers as a GM and Ballmer as an owner.

    Bird knows better.

If Indy could sign Monta outright anyways, why would they do the deal with DAL again?

The could get the assets in the Laker trade AND sign Monta.

Precisely. The whole thing makes no real sense, it's just media personalities trying to create more drama for a truly dramatic situation. ESPN should instead focus on a) DeAndre and the Clippers being immoral butts and b) Broussard making up things and tweeting them as facts.

Exactly. I would be pretty shocked if this deal didn't go through. What happened with DeAndre is rare. Can't see a bunch of people joining in on that kind of behavior period. Honestly, if I were Silver I would make sure the message got around to everyone not to go back on their deals to prevent any more chaos.

Dallas is looking to tank now. This would definitely ensure that. Bring in some seasoned tankers like Kelly, Sacre, and Hill. They've been at it for two seasons now.

Mavs don't want Hibbert most likely. Their pick is top 7 protected from the Rondo deal. Hibbert makes them a better team. No reason to take chances. Sacre at center. Take a page out of the Byron Scott Handbook to Stealth Tanking and start Kelly at sf. It will be tough for the Mavs to finish bottom 4 (the spot needed to guarantee they keep the pick) with Dirk, Parsons and Matthews. Those 3 probably can pick up about 25-26 wins. Adding Hibbert might push them to 30 and put their pick in jeopardy.

Zigglett said the deal should be finalized today with future 2nd rounders to Indy for Hibbert. I didn't see anything from Medina.

Also true. They're not making the playoffs as they're built now. Heck I'm not sure they were making the playoffs even WITH DeAndre. If we can send them guys who they may like and want to build with or heck guys that just fill the roster so they can tank, I could see them wanting to be included in the deal.

But to that end, we could just do a separate deal and dump those guys on them anyway. They certainly have the cap space for it.

I just looked up Hibbert's stats wow he has never averaged 30 minutes a game. That's kind of a problem

Why? We've got depth behind him. Black is capable of playing 20-25 minutes a night if need be.

Sigh. Really? Tarik and Upshaw and the "New NBA" say hello. He's also got defensive large beast on the plus side of his balance sheet. Sorry, Clippers / Jordan thing has me in a foul mood.
