I don't think GMs will backtrack on trades. That would be very bad business. Assuming this trade is still on track, why can't it be finalized until the 9th when the moratorium ends on the 8th?

All comes down to cap numbers that get locked in tonight at 9 PM PST. That's the only real holdup.

Yeah. Just because the Clippers went full douche mode, doesn't mean it's going to cause a douche free-for-all.

Jordan called the Clips about his second thoughts, don't know if I could really blame them.

Nevermind, I got my dates mixed up. I thought today was the 7th and I read that the moratorium ends at 9 PM PST tonight. Turns out today's the 8th, so 9 PM PST tonight will be July 9th on the East Coast. So everything can be made official tonight. I hope I can go to sleep tonight with all these moves secured and Swaggy still on the roster.

The announcements for most of the moves will probably be tomorrow morning/early afternoon eastern. Of course some will drag because of cap troubles.

Sure you can, it's really quite easy to do.

They're violating one of the most sacred unwritten rules this league has.

Regardless of DJ's second thoughts, you tell him that's unfortunate and you wish him the best of luck. Apologize it came to that and the two of you couldn't work something out.

Is retaining one player worth creating toxic relationships with the entire league? Is it worth a lifetime wrath from Cuban?

This is a poison pill for their joke of a franchise that will remain long after DJ's contract.

I'm seriously not worried about it right now. Unless the Mavs are throwing picks at Indy, they have nothing better to offer. And why would they offer a pick if they're rebuilding? If Mark calls and says "let's talk about that trade", Bird will just "Lakers offered us the same deal and we already agreed. We don't want to look like the Clippers here."

Honestly, I don't think Cuban would do that. I think he'll be too focused on the clippers and the NBA. plus as @therealdeal said, if he does that he becomes a hypocrite and loses any leverage over what the clippers are doing to him. There's only one snake in the grass here and it's not him or George Karl.

If this goes down, I don't see Cuban turning around and doing pretty much the exact thing that was done to him by trying to weasel in and break up a deal. Hibbert is ours.

@JLaker17 to win in the regular season, sure. They're not better than GS or SA come playoff time. They'll be facing the ramifications for awhile and it will greatly hamper their ability to compete and win when no one will want to deal with them. Not worth burning down the village for DJ.

Until it is official, anything can happen so I will worry about it. Would be a big miss.

Word is that the Mavs were planning on tanking if they missed out on DJ and that Carlisle might have been leaving too. So if DJ does go back to the Clippers and Mavs want to tank (lol sorry Wes Matthews) I doubt they'll want to throw any picks or assets to the Pacers.

I really want Hibbert at this point and I doubt anything happens to our deals, but good god if the Clippers ruin anything for us I'm going to start picketing at Staples.

Especially with it seeming like we're telling Cuban "give us Anderson for Lin or screw off". Wouldn't put it past him to try to screw us with Hibbert at all. Or force us to give him Lin for nothing if we don't want him going after Hibbert.

Well, we wouldn't be giving him Lin. Without Hibbert, he could sign Lin to a max deal if he were so inclined. Doesn't need us anymore.

Can't we sign Lin to whatever deal we want? We have his Bird Right's. Even if we did acquire Hibbert, we can still re-sign him and go over the cap.
