Yeah, I was irate with the FO for passing on Okafor as everyone hear knows from my rants, but Hibbert coming here makes up for that somewhat to me.

We'll see how it all turns out with Roy, but I agree with LTLakerfan, one of our FA's next year may need to be him if he plays well. I really hope he does pan out for us, because he covers a lot of our needs if he does. He's still young at 28 and he's a monstrous defensive Center at 7 feet plus. He could potentially be an excellent fit next to Randle. I'm actually pretty optimistic it could work out between the two parties.

Actually, depending on how long they've been in the league, we may have 3 max slots, or two max slots and a slot for a Derozan type player. Next year's pitch will be COMPLETELY different.

Actually I would be really shocked if Hibbert earns more than he'll get now. We'll have two max slots and Hibbert should fill a long-term need if things click. We SHOULD go into the summer with:
    Russell/Clarkson
    _____/Brown
    _____/_____
    Randle/_____
    Hibbert/Black

We'll see what happens. Hibbert's good, and if RoLo got what he did, Hibbert should be between 13 and max somewhere. I'd love for it to be on the lower end of that range.

Which Brown do you have there? I think Nance is a longterm fixture for us backing up at the 3 and 4. And, of course, I think Upshaw is part of our plans.

We all know that the FO will be pitching that SF spot to Durant. We'll probably need to get a solid 2-way SG first to convince Durant. Bradley Beal is the best, and he's a RFA so that's not happening. After that, I think we're looking at Gerald Henderson or Courtney Lee.

Woah; you guys beat me to it :)

That's a fairly attractive team for FAs, I'd think. We need a wing, and we'll find one.

Some random thoughts watching this youtube clip.

    1. He's got range up to 15-18 feet
    2. Able to hit ridiculously high hook-shots with both left and right hands
    3. Has really good discipline on D with that verticality thing
    4. Faster than I thought getting back on D. Definitely not a Yao Ming.
    5. That dunk at 8:05!! WOW

Great post! Could the Lakers have made the biggest improvement out of this off season? My optimism has grown by leaps and bounds. Something also struck me...his foul shooting is good! The defensive presence they get from him may even be better than Jordan's

yes he does. I remember in those Miami Heat playoff series I would say to myself damn, does he fall and hit the ground hard a lot. But he always seems to get up.

As Stu always says no one has ever won a fight with the floor.

Yeah, apparently Hibbert is an elite rim protector but average rebounder, whereas Jordan is elite in both areas. Not sure how they compare in P&R defense but I'm sure Jordan has the edge with his lateral quickness.

On offense it gets interesting because clearly Hibbert is more polished, but Jordan's FG% is like 70%. They're mostly lobs, putbacks, and dunks assisted by CP3, but his superior athletism is a huge factor. However, like you mention, Hibbert can make free throws so even if the game is close we can rely on him to stay on the floor. I'd give the edge to Hibbert on offense

Overall though, Jordan is the better player I think.

That's therealdeal's assignment .... let Vitti and his staff know how to improve his balance. But some of those collisions would have even knocked me over.

I watched one of his workouts. He works on balance a lot, but his trainer seemed to allow him to use wretched form. It was pretty eye-opening.

Look, I'm not a professional trainer or a kinesiologist, and I'm not saying I'm any better at anything than him, but his form is pretty awful in many of these movements.

I agree with us having 2 max slots with Hibbert, but I think we will look more like:

    Russell/______
    Clarkson/Swaggy
    _______/A. Brown/Nance
    Randle/Black/Nance
    Hibbert/Upshaw

I honestly believe Hibbert was agreed upon maybe before the draft. Think about it. Russell plus Hibbert is better than Okafor plus whoever else we could have gotten at guard on the free agent market. Plus, Russell and Clarkson can play either guard spot, so let's say Conely and Durant want to come here together. Conley plays 1 and Russell at 2 with Clarkson as our sixth man. Russell gives us so much more versatility than Okafor would have.

Everyone losing their minds about Mitch sitting on his hands after the LMA and DJ strike out, but the reality is I think Hibbert was our free agent acquisition Plan B all along.

    Conely/Clarkson
    Russell/Clarkson/Swaggy
    Durant/A. Brown/Swaggy
    Randle/Black/Nance
    Hibbert/Upshaw/Black
