Ref didn't flinch The player made that hit look pretty smooth in the flow of game play. Guy was pretty tough to get up and play the rest of the game. The guy who did it may have just affected the rest of his basketball career.
not that that behavior is justifiable, but i'd like to know a bit more about what transpired prior to that. i got physical a few times in games, but i always felt i was reacting to the same. i never forearmed a face or anything...but i made sure i registered my opinion once or twice. but yeah, that's not going to be a good look.
It's hard not to. When I used to play a lot, there was a guy who would keep slamming me across my face with his arm. Full swings and he finally broke my Rambis horn rimmed glasses and I punched the MFer a few times. Everyone got mad at me and I called BS on all of them. He had hit me at least 5 times and THEN finally broken my military grade glasses. And that took a strong direct hit, I had enough and got in a fight with him over it. He quit doing it after that, funny how that works. When I was nice about it, he kept doing it. When he realized there were consequences, he stopped. F it, sometimes men gotta do what men gotta do. You can't let someone run roughshod over you, especially when you know you could kick their butt. Being nice and intelligent about things only goes so far with some people.
right, so was buzzcut cheapshotting that dude first, or did that dude escalate it? that clip can't tell us is what i was saying.
Valentine is the farthest right Bulls player. Called for 5th foul, they reviewed it and still gave him the foul. GG.
that's shameful if it wasn't changed. Do they have the inability to change which person the foul is on? That's the only reason that seems to make sense that it could happen.
Has it always been okay for refs to wait for the shot to miss and watch the ball bounce off the ground before calling the shooting foul? Seems to be a common occurrence against us this year.
just dropping in to say i'm still annoyed by the fact that fouling lob targets is treated like a regular off-ball foul. gotta be a way to clean that up. teams seem to be really going after rim runners because a) refs miss the foul many times and b) the cost of fouling there is so low compared to likely outcome of the play if you don't foul. it's tantamount to a breakaway foul, about which the league has tried to do something.
I think there are a few fouls that should be treated differently. Undercutting someone should be a flagrant - always. There's just no reason to subject someone on the basketball court to that sort of risk. And maybe @abeer3 that's your concern on lobs? Or is it just about competitive advantage? Like in the NFL, grabbing a WR that had you beaten made good sense if it was a 15 yard penalty. Now it can be a 40 yard penalty. Very different dynamic but not about safety.
It’s both for me. I hate the charge circle because it ironically encourages undercuts (and discourages shot blocking), but the lob stuff usually happens on takeoff and is less dangerous—though still somewhat dangerous. I just think if I were coaching, I’d say shove all lob targets all the time, and that’s not a good thing.
Refs are garbage, literally cost a team in the playoff hunt a game with an easily reviewable and changeable call, but it’s not reviewable because the NBA doesn’t care. So easy to fix this. Whole league is laughing at them, mocking them, players not even on the team
Potential goaltendings are not reviewable ???? TF Lillard is absolutely right about the NBA BS report
