And the Nets, which when fully healthy are still bad, were without Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson. That's a poor excuse imo. And Wood even had DNPs last year, he doesn't count as "we played bad because we didn't have x player"
it is what it is at this point in time and OK you win. Maybe we’ll improve some at least by the deadline … who knows.
Very close game in MEM, and they got some home cookin' and made 10 FTs in the last 6 mins to MIN's 1 (Ant missed the other FTA), to win 108-106. Naz Reid hit one of his funky 3s with 6:53 left in the game to put MIN up by 9. From then on, MEM went on a 22-11 run to win. Good game. Really really RILLY bad game on MLD Day: Bags@GSW. If you saw it - or any of it - you know what I mean. Bags get up, IIRC, 43 at one point. You got wonder what Dunleavy Jr is going to do with that team. 64-39 Bags at halftime, but the 2nd half was pug-fugly. Bags 125 GSW 85. The last 18 mins of this game was garbage.
gs actually has a bunch of trade options compared to say, us. they can trade their 26 (or 25) and 28 firsts. they have wiggins as a serviceable player with a big enough contract to anchor larger trades. they have kuminga as a guy some lotto team might squint at and think they could develop into a star. they have podz, who's a solid young player, moody, who is ok and locked into a reasonable salary for a few years. all that plus gpII's and looney's expiring deals (and maybe schroder's because his contract was acquired long enough ago?). they can go out and get the best names on the market if they want. the question they're dealing with is the same we're always dealing with: is it worth it? if they move wiggins/moody/podz for lavine...did they improve enough for it to matter? if they move kuminga and expiring for cam johnson, are they better than a 7th place team? even if they move moody/expiring/1sts for johnson? as an aside, their kuminga situation is a mess, imo. not finding an extension there happens, but you have to move on quickly at that point, right? we're now in a situation where the team trading for him inherits this issue (and thus must be willing to meet his contract demands in order to feel good about the trade). this lowers his trade value substantially. i suppose RFA isn't something to fear much with so many teams lacking cash right now, but all it takes is one to really force your hand. anyway, you're right that they're the most interesting team to watch for the next couple of weeks. tons of options and some tough choices.
doesn't it bother any of these folks involved how put out beal is by all this? yes, yes, beal makes a zillion dollars. but he has a no-trade clause, and he has a family. maybe he doesn't want to move them. maybe they like living in phx. he's being a good sport by going to the bench and still playing hard and not fussing to the press, etc. but he doesn't have to. i would understand if beal made this as difficult as possible for everyone. and i get why butler is mad at miami. he felt like he'd done enough to get a legacy deal, and i'm not sure he's wrong. but you don't have to cause problems for everyone everywhere when you're mad.
Depends where he ends up. I don't think Phoenix was a great fit, so maybe he's happier elsewhere. His three sons are young so they probably aren't deeply rooted in Arizona yet. If he goes to Milwaukee, he and Dame can vibe on how much they hate the city. They definitely failed him by getting scrubs since their finals appearance. That's after promising to go after every big name under the sun and missing on them all. Riley really thought the tactics that always worked for him in the past would still. It's a different landscape today and he's lost. But yeah, he's handled it (and most his exists) like a child at Toys R Us crying over toys their parents won't get them.
Lol Suspended two games by Miami January 22, 2025 Miami will suspend Butler for two games, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. According to Charania, Butler missed a team flight Wednesday, so the Heat will respond with a two-game suspension that will force him to miss Thursday's game against the Bucks and Saturday's game against the Nets
They must think they can move him by then. Think they'll find a reason now to keep him away until he's gone. Riley moved the flight time up, left without him, didn't tell him and then suspended him. (Maybe)
lol, regardless of outcome, the heat brand getting diminished is good for us. because riley had beaten us, and he's ceding territory now.
Are the Bucks really going for a Dame-Beal backcourt? That's probably the worst defense backcourt ever, no? But yeah, I guess sending Middleton corpse and a couple non-core pieces doesn't hurt them
is beal more valuable than bobby portis right now? who's playing the non-giannis, non-lopez minutes at the big spot if they do this? i don't see why they'd participate, tbh.
Joker hits a 70 foot shot at the end of the 3rd Q in win over SAC on the way to his 5th straight trip-dub; immediately after the game he's asked about that in an interview, and with a slight "tell" he said with a (seemingly) straight face: "Uhhh..I knew it was going in."
Bad a**, chubby white boy. The talent he has is beyond insane. Not a single scout, gm, hc saw it coming, freakin Denver won a jackpot.
how could you have? he looked like a bloated vlade divac at the time he was drafted, in a league where the vlade divac era seemed definitely over. instead, he's some sort of platonic ideal of a vlade divac, a vlade divac we didn't know could exist!
^ Agreed. I think young, healthy Sabonis (Domantas' dad) would be closest thing to Joker we could have seen. He was GREAT.
