Man, Wemby is sick (so is Chet). Another game, another crazy plays, straight from the video game. Is this the future of basketball? Tall as f***, skinny guys with nice handles and a good shot? I wouldn't mind them on the Lakers
i think it's just a coincidence that two of the better young players happen to be super tall, super skilled twigs. the big issue is always health with that type. chet's already missed a full year. maybe that will be it. maybe not. thinking of other recent high picks that missed their first full year and had careers filled with injuries (simmons, griffin), but maybe there are exceptions. i guess durant is always the guy to point to. anyway, i don't think it will be the trend in part because people that tall who are also skilled and agile are incredibly rare.
Chris Paul suffered a fractured left hand during Friday's 113-109 win over Detroit and will undergo surgery next week, Kendra Andrews of ESPN.com reports.
Dept of: Kinda Sad; Ya Almost Wanna Avert Your Eyes: Pistons came into Denver. Joker played 25 mins: 2 for 3 from the field (3!) ,7 boards, 16 assists. DEN cruises, 131-114. Of course. Okay, Nikola, you're playing, but let everyone else score. Don't even make any posts moves, really. He shot 0 FTs. Didn't care. This game was about him just grabbing boards and passing: 16 dimes. To make matters somehow even worse, Cade Cunningham went out with an injury after playing 11 mins. Jeeez. Some of the bad teams this year are really bad; some of the good teams are horrifyingly good. Or at least they look that way to me.
NBA: 1/8/24: Barn Burner in IND: Pacers beat the Bags by 2. Tatum was out with an ankle, then Tyrese blew out a hammy in the 2nd Q. 133-131 IND. C-Bags were 17 for 35 from 3, but the Pacers were 19 for 40. Hope Halliburton comes back soon. Which reminds me: Ja is done for the season with a torn shoulder. Surprising game of the day: Jazz went into MIL and won by 16.
ADDENDA to the Bags-Pacers game: I don't know how bad y'all are addicted to the NBA, but I find myself watching the last 3 mins of close games an awful lot- awful in the sense it steals time from my more (ahem) creative pursuits - and that game, if you were following, ended with the refs whistling Zingis on a 3FGA on Mathurin with 0.6 left. Mathurin made 2, deliberately missed the third, and the game ended, Pacers by 2. Now the NBA is saying what I thought when I watched it: Zingis's block was good, and even the damned C-Bags get rooked every now and then, too. I like to think this is the Hoops Goddess paying 'em back for the non-call on Bron from last year, but then, as y'all know, I'm kind of a weirdie.
Yea. It's still way too early, but this might prove to be one of those rare Both Teams Benefited From The Trade dealio. Like Sabonis/Tyrese trade last year...although in the long run, Halliburton is going to make that look like a bad trade for SAC.
I didn't know there was a beef, just saw Stephen A's comments going around today so I had to go investigate. My god! Screaming A absolutely eviscerated Whitlock Here's the skinny https://www.si.com/media/2024/01/11/stephen-a-smith-mercilessly-blasts-jason-whitlock
“Stephen A. Myth,” …. that laughed at, don’t like Whitlock at all either. Edit …. have to also admit peripheral 1st glance at the headline I got excited for a couple secs thinking he was blasting “Whitmore” for something …. that would maybe get @KareemtheGreat33 off my back about JHS.
Wow: C-Bags went into MIL and got WAXED, 135-102. Goshwhattashame. Bags' starting 5: 0-10 from deep. MIL had been lagging; guess they got all worked up for this one. Bucks were up 75-38 at halftime. Like rubbernecking a garish crash on the freeway: OKC up 123-65 with 8 mins left. Imagine paying a decent chunk of change for that monstrosity.
Yea, the Blazers are bad, but the question is: are they 20 losses in a row-bad? Or: how much better are they than the (currently) 3-35 Pistons? POR is 10-27. You wanna talk bad-bad, or just plain bad? I write this as we got blown out of our own building by the damned Suns. At least the Bags lost in MIL by 33, my only NBA comfort of the day.
