im not a fan but losing Brooks to trade and Jah to suspension was bound to hurt. This is such a trash talking team. Now everyone sees they are struggling and want some payback. I think they’re cooked this season.
tyus jones was probably underrated in their system. and i think their whole feelgood vibe was just sort of squashed by the morant stuff more than by the brooks stuff. but both mattered. and to me, it wasn't losing brooks; it was what that signified--the front office simply didn't want the guy back. they were just kinda done with whatever it took behind the scenes to keep that iteration of the team overachieving.
Where do I sign up? Props to Blazers for this one. I get it, they need to do it because most people have no idea who's on that team since Dame left. But this should be implemented on all local and national broadcasts. Few things are more frustrating than not knowing who came in during a sub or timeout because the commentators are on a tangent. Or 5 minutes after a player came in, they realize player x is in the game and say they just checked in.
Another rookie I was high on who was close to our range but not quite there. He's had some rookie struggles but coming off a night Cam misses that corner 3 and a shooter would've helped...stung seeing this stat line a bit.
Went looking for scores of other games tonight and saw a header that Beardie had played his game with Clips vs. Knicks, and was quoted as saying the Clips have "unlimited possibilities" so I figured they won. But Beardie tied for the worst (-18 with Zubac) and they lost by 14. I'm sure it'll get better for them. Some very high-scoring games this year so far. C-Bags had 155 (or so) the other night and shot something like 57% from 3. Tonight IND had 86 at halftime vs. Wemby's Spurs and ended up with 152 on 20 of 38 from downtown. Damn. Wonder what it's like to root for team that hits so many 3s... 76ers notched 146 today, but it was against the Wizards. PHI was up 75-58 at halftime then came out in the 3rd and added 45 more. The 4th was of course yawning garbage time.
Per CP3's recommendation, shorter pre-game and halftime. Also we already heard they're doing away with the captains and going back to East vs. West format. Target score is also gone.
Might have helped us next year after Ham barely played him first half of next season. This year .... nah, not this guy.
I do wish there was another minute or so between picks in round two. I like this idea IF we're adding a third round, which makes sense when they expand into Vegas and Seattle. If we add a 3rd round, they should probably stretch the roster to 16 and can even put provisions that the 16th has to be someone on a rookie deal.
denver/gs game may make me stay up late to check it out. though i guess murray's out, so it's likely a gs win.
i know. i was so hoping he'd fall to us in the draft (check the receipts), and it seemed possible for a while. jhs was originally slotted in the range wallace went, and i hoped he'd go there, leaving one of wallace, lively, hawkins, or bufkin to fall to us (didn't imagine whitmore would). but every single one was off the board, as was even jett howard! there just weren't a lot of obvious bad reaches like in many drafts, so we were left without great options, imo. i'm pretty sure jhs wasn't that high on our draft board; you could sort of tell that we tried to trade that pick but nobody wanted it once all the gems were off the board. yeah, they might have accidentally fielded a better team. i do think their ceiling lowered, though. covington and batum can do a lot of what they need to fill in around embiid/maxey/harris--and people forget that harris is a capable third scorer because philly's been hellbent on making him a 4th scorer.
Yeah. there were 3 guys I really wanted and was confident one would be there or if they were one pick up, we could easily move up to get them. Drafts are wild and unpredictable, this one didn't have as much chaos as we needed. So close, yet so far. Bummer. They'll definitely look better when they figure something out (until their next injury) but right now it's pretty damn funny how unnatural of a fit this is. also losing Plumlee is going to mean a lot more Tucker for a spell and I'm not sure he's ready again for the West.
