This is how you change with the game to stick around. During his run here in Atlanta, never would've guessed he'd be averaging 30 minutes a night at age 36 while still a vital cog on a contender. He was never a high flyer and game didn't revolve around athleticism, so that helped him dodge serious injuries. But 10 years ago I'd probably guess he'd be a 15 minute backup at age 34-35, just cashing checks on a lottery team. If it wasn't a C bag, it'd be more impressive.
i think most people don't realize how much boston's recent success has hinged on horford being able to be a 30+mpg player at age 36. it's nuts. note that in the crucial game 7, he played 34 minutes to robert williams' 14. the latter gets all the press and the fun nickname and all, but his team thinks he's barely playable in big moments. i just wonder how much longer horford will defy age. he missed 20 games this year, and if he ever misses a playoff series, boston will lose that series. you might say, big deal, same with us and lebron or AD, but horford's not supposed to be their most important player.
Absolutely. Every year I think Father Time will hit him and every year he is instrumental to Boston. I think Boston will go through a bad period soon. You have Al who eventually will stop playing so much and so good and they will give the supermax to Brown who doesn't deserve it. Let's see how they manage the roster moving forward. They got 2 absolute steals when traded for Brogdon and White, let's see if teams continue to help them This year was their year. They've been close the previous years and this year when the Bucks fell soon, it was on them to take over. Mazulla was really underwhelming and I don't think he's good enough.
To be fair, I don't know if he had enough time to game plan. The Town takes priority. I just wonder if all his timeout speeches are quotes from The Town. I'd almost respect him more if he only spoke in Town quotes. I can see it now... During film sessions of players not getting back on D Waiting to board the bus When they found out they were playing the Heat After Brown's 8 TOs After losing to Miami FA recruitment Player comes into camp out of shape
But, I thought the winning narrative was that three pointers are over rated and don’t really matter all that much in today’s game??
(One of the best scenes from Planes Trains and Automobiles... unless you're watching it on cable) If it's big enough to take away from the Finals...Ja, you're f***ed
Probably all tolled from upcoming suspension and lost advertising and shoe deal fallout …. over $50 million worth of street cred. Though.
ah, i didn't realize that the early "rounds" of the tourney are just regular season games that have tournament implications. so i guess teams only play a maximum of two extra games here? i actually think barkley (in a surprising twist) makes a good point about how load management impacts this. imagine if your guy gets hurt in the in-season tournament game and you miss a chance at the real thing. at least the play-in tournament is necessary to win the ring. i'll be curious to see how it works out. silver seems to be realistic about it taking a while for people to get used to it.
Yeah, it's odd how little we know about something that will happen in under 8 months. I'm not sure exactly when it'll occur, January makes the most sense because that's when teams hit that repetitive lull. Maybe this helps with that. Also gives them enough time to recover from an injury, God forbid, before the playoffs. It seems Silver was even struggling to explain it in the above video. I've heard conflicting reports on the financial incentive too. Initially it was $1m per player on the winning team. Then I read a summary of one of Dray's podcasts and he said it was only $500k per player. That's a big difference. The top 30 players care about $1m, $500k... not so much. Do the coaches get anything? They should. Do contending teams care? I don't think they should have it at a neutral site. Have semis and finals at home area of the best team in the East and West (better record gets the final), that way at least the owners are pushing their team for the extra revenue at the gate. Do only small market teams care because of the national TV exposure in the final 4? Nuggets, specifically Coach Mikey, will care more than anyone else then.
I hate Beard but Doc is beyond a joke. If I'm a star, I'm not playing for him. He blames them every time out. That's why the coaching jobs are filled and he's without work.
can't it be both? harden only plays one (losing) way, and doc's a s***ty coach. both have always been true and lost on like, 80% of the nba audience.
