i don't think malone gets enough credit for optimizing jokic on both ends, tbh. i mean, jokic is really big and talented, but it takes some vision to make him the hub of the offense like that, and to fashion a defense that isn't hurt by his pretty slow feet and lack of lift but is instead helped by his incredibly high hoop iq. neither jokic nor denver should be as good as they are, imo, and malone should get some credit for each.
love luka garza in the background of the second clip fully understanding that that's him if edwards plays on a different team.
mavs been doing us no favors lately, losing twice to portland and getting blasted in the 4th today by the clips. all after beating us on some questionable stuff and luka heroics. where are the heroics against the teams that we need to lose!?
There are 8 teams with 24 or 25 losses in the West . We could be fifth right now , makes the close losses even harder to swallow
yeah, i mean you can't win them all, but we could easily have 4-5 more wins if we just screwed up tight games at a normal rate. i posted the BPI stuff in the optimism thread, and it's either really positive or really depressing that we're underperforming projections based on schedule strength, etc. even worse is that team most overperforming is NO. we should essentially be reversed with them in the standings.
Day-um!: Scoring. Tonight no one in the Assn had 50, but POR apparently worked out their frustrations blowing a 25 point lead to us (in a Laker win that I'm still savoring, accompanied w/my therapeutic sativa); Blazers beat SA 147-127. Meanwhile 280 points were scored today when MIL came into DET and beat 'em 150-130. NO OT! Orlando beat the C-Bags! Always a good day to see BOS lose. The game I watched: MEM in SAC. SAC had 47 in the 1st on 12-for-13 from 3s, and then looked like the Lakers in POR in the 2nd Q, scoring only 19. They outscored MEM 67-39 in the 2nd half, though, to beat the Jizzlies, who were w/o Adams and Ja. This was a game that showed a lot about MEM's character, I thought. At one point in the 3rd they cut the Kings lead from 14 to 4, then SAC got out and ran 'em out of the building, Griz's outside shots went cold, and they couldn't score on the inside as SAC's interior D looked pretty good, so the Griz guys started pressing, taking ridiculous-looking prayers that went unanswered. Shannon Sharpe may have apologized to the MEM guys, but when things are going bad for them they show little poise. How crazy is it that SAC at 27-19 has the 8th best record in the NBA? On Jan 23rd?
can't get over mike brown making it work in sacramento. i definitely had them finishing in the 9th-12th range. that huerter deal really helped them, and both teams benefitted tremendously from the halliburton/sabonis trade, too. rare thing.
Dayum! You'd think I have better things to do than spend many hours watching non-Laker games, but noooo. Watched BOS @ NY. Knicks blew a decent lead in the last 5 mins to force OT. Tatum is one of those guys who, when I watch, I can't help but think of Kobe. He was unstoppable in the last 5 mins. And Brunson was reminding me of Russ: dribbling too much, not passing, and missing shots. In clutch. Brunson: WHO was largely responsible for that decent lead you had in the first place? His name is Julius. Then the Knicks responded in OT, and won the game. Jalen Brown bricked TWO crucial FTs, so it doesn't only happen to our superstars. Like a lot of NBA games, I'm pleased because of who LOST, not who won. This was one of those games. We head into the C-Bag Tidy Bowl Garden (or whatever it's named after) with them on a 3-game losing streak. Should be epic. I'm already nervous. DAL @ PHO: Luka goes out with an sprained ankle early in the game. I'm thinking: well, this was going to be a good game. Forget it now. But, apparently not having a life, I kept watching. Frikkin' Spencer Dinwiddie took up the slack and willed them to a win. Actually, the entire Mavs team sucked it up, and once again, I was pleased that the Suns LOST, and not so much that the Mavs won. But it, like the Knicks game, was pretty thrilling. Let's face it: at my age, I'm not about to finally "get a life," so I may as well just say "Eff it: Imma enjoy the NBA."
Didn’t know where else to put this, pretty cool video, not sure I’ve seen one from this perspective before. Wembanyama camera view
This is hilarious. There's more statistical breakdown of the discrepancy and video examples in his Twitter thread.
Let us not hear or speak of Myles Turner any more: Pacers re-upped w/him at 2 yrs/$60mil. I'd become convinced we didn't need him anyway.
