Yikes. 330 with awkward movement mechanics. He should pay the best to help fix him ASAP.

Carlisle has all kinds of bad relationships with players but people want him as our coach. Big no thanks.

You can see why Rondo and Carlisle would be like water and oil for so many reasons.

i think carlisle's one of the best coaches in the business still. tbh, the mavs seem like a hot mess, and they're clearly the ones putting out this information right now.

that said, he's not the right fit for us anyway. will say i'm surprised at how bad indy has been this year, though.

I think Carlisle is overrated. If it wasn’t for Dirk would people view him so favorably. And like @abeer3 said, why is he doing so badly in Indiana?

@abeer3, why do you think Dallas is putting this out there. What do they have to gain from it, they already fired him?

kidd's doing worse there with a slightly better roster, and they've become a petty franchise. cuban either took too much or lost all control, can't decide which.

i think this year's indy team is maybe the first time i remember a carlisle team doing worse than i expected. players don't like him, but he puts teams in positions to win.

sometimes, if you're the only competent person in the room, you get made to be the a******. i've seen this a lot in life...

Here’s something I don’t think get talked about enough with both Pop and Carlisle. Timmy and Dirk both took SUBSTANTIALLY less money during their twilight years so their teams could surround them with better talent. These are Dirk’s salary numbers starting in 2014, the year before he made 22,721,381.

    (2014-15) 7,974,482
    (15-16) 8,333,333
    (16-17) 25 million
    (17-18) 5,000,000
    (2018-19) 5,000,000

    Tim Ducan
    (2011-12) 21,164,619
    (2012-13) 9,638,554
    (2013-14) 10,361,446
    (2014-15) 10,361,446
    (2015-16) 5,250,000
    (2016-17) 5,643,750

We paid Kobe 23,500,000 and 25,000,000 the last 2 years of his contract which should have been around the going rate for both Tim and Dirk. So both Dallas and San Antonio coaches were able to get star players for many years and pay them much less. It allowed them to get better players than they would have been able to pay because of it. Paying players a lot of money doesn’t necessarily correlate to results. All you have to do is see our Deng/Moz contracts but if done well, it can be a real advantage. This is kind of my long winded way of asking, do we think more higher of Carlisle and Pop because of this advantage that other coaches didn’t get? I know we have had a lot of vet minimum guys like Payton, the mailman and Melo now but they are at the end of their careers and it’s their last chance for a ring. That doesn’t apply to the situation above.

Portland is being terrible. I see either they go all-in in Ben or Dame is getting traded

The Ben and Lillard combo makes so much sense. As does CJ and Embiid. The problem is Morey wants Lillard if he’s trading Ben.

honestly, dallas and SA's FO's inability to capitalize on those discounts is why no one will take them in the future. i think both coaches have done a lot with subpar rosters over time. hell, carlisle took the pre-sheed pistons to the conference finals! starting michael curry! i couldn't believe it. then larry brown gets the ring when they trade chucky freaking atkins for sheed! carlisle made oj mayo a near allstar and kept monta ellis from exiting the league 2 years earlier. and the list of players that thrived under carlisle and pop and absolutely sucked everywhere else is incredibly long.

to me, those have been the best two nba coaches for the past 15-20 years.

At least we aren’t the only ones to lose to OKC. I know it’s only 1 point but a buzzer beater stings.

tyronn lue would have schemed them out of th...oh wait.

seriously, though--do you think the clips ever regret the george deal? i guess not since it netted them leonard, and george is probably still better than SGA. but it was SGA, gallinari, and a zillion draft picks.

it's looking unlikely they get a ring out of it, and i don't know that they've improved their brand as dramatically as they hoped (nobody cares about the clippers still).

just funny to look back now at the breathless proclamations when that happened. we were doomed and they were destined for glory.

Not to make this a Covid thread, but I just saw on realgm that a bunch of players on different teams are going into safety and protocol. They need to decide if they’re going to halt the season, or stop with these things. You’re literally taking extreme measures for these athletes, who are 40 and below, who are extremely healthy. You can’t control this virus, so why take these extreme measures? It’s affecting the season, games, and standings. The bulls literally had no one on their roster, I mean, how is that in any way, fair? Anyways, it’s just bad for the sport

I don’t think they regret it. They really didn’t have a choice if they wanted Kawhi. I think the Clipper brand is still thought of as second tier at best but it’s better than being the joke of the league. Baller has a ton of money and will try his best to keep them relevant. I personally think he is going about it the wrong way with some of his advertising and keeping Doc as long as he did but it’s not my money.
