is it? not saying i agree with the statement (i don't know enough about dolan...sterling on the other hand...), but ferry used a nationality/ethnicity (depending upon how you frame it) to describe a person's actions whereas green used a loathsome mindset to describe a person's actions. i actually think it's really different. unless you're arguing that slave owner is a way of invoking white identity, and i'm not sure i would agree there. "slave owner" directly refers to how one treats other people, whereas "african" should not directly refer to any action that a person takes. jmo and i think green generally needs to think more before he speaks as well.
