Rondo should stay - at this point, this is the perfect situation for him. Anywhere else, they'll be expecting too much from him. I know for the Clippers, they'll be expecting playoff Rondo during the regular season - and he's just not able to do that. At least here, he knows what his role is and he's comfortable with it, and we are too.

Maybe he'll opt out...but I think he should just opt in and run it back with us and then go get paid the following summer after we go back to back

I hope Rondo is already doing video on the Hall of Fame ceremony. He has a speech coming up in the next couple years... ;)

Probably feels he accomplished what he wanted to do...win one for both iconic franchises. Now looking for long term stability and money along with the courtship from other teams. Good luck and thank you if he doesn't come back.

Hope KCP doesn’t do the same thing. Boy until game 2 against Portland and from that point on I never expected to be hoping like hell Rondo would be coming back.

As long as he doesn't join one of our biggest title rivals.

Good for Rondo - he came here and did what he wanted to do - and he raised his stock to an all time high from playing with us and winning with us.

I'll always have mad love for Rondo now wherever he goes...but if he goes to the CLIPPERS....

I have all the respect for him and thanks for the championship, but if he wants a multi-year deal now... something like 3 years, $20M, we have to say - thank you for everything and good luck with your new team! I completely understand what he is trying to do and it's smart, no hard feelings. I mean, you know what's going to happen next year... he will get hurt as usual, and if it happens later in the season he won't be able to come back even for the second round of the playoffs. Also, he will get slower and slower every year. Basically, whoever pays him now will make a mistake. In this case we just keep Bradley, Caruso is ready for more minutes and it just puts more emphasis on that new guard signing. We need to move away from giving big contracts to vet players who can't contribute full-time. Quality guys in their prime and vet minimum ring-chasers only.

We do have to keep KCP though. Hopefully, he won't be too expensive.

I get it. This may be his last shot to get paid. His stock will never be as high as it is right now. Good luck, and thank you for helping bring a title back to LA.

Some team will offer him $7-8m a year.

Depending on what we think it'll take to keep oue bigs and bring on Boogie (both should be min deals), I'd consider giving him the BAE ($3.8M) instead of the min ($2 5m).

I'm a little surprised at how quickly he made his decision. On First Take it didn't seem like he was making it anytime soon.

exactly, well said... ultimately we will need to maintain some sort of balance between developing youth and finding key guys in their prime/seasoned vets/ring chasers. while i would love for Rondo to close out his career here, he has the opportunity to get paid elsewhere, and good for him... hopefully we can package several of these guys while their stock is (hopefully) elevated due to playoff performances and the championship.

Rondo is probably thinking: I want to hear the offers and I could always sign with the Lakers cheap if I don't hear any offers I like.

That's just smart career management. He knows what our offer is anyway. We're just not going to "Luol Deng" anyone anymore.

Anything short of the max, I don't see him enduring that headache.

LOL, yeah, I don't think he wants any part of that mess. Maybe he could go back to Boston.

I wonder if we can unofficially agree to move him into the coaching staff in future seasons (after playing in the next season. Even an "apprenticeship" of sorts working under Rob Pelinka.

I think AD would love Rondo having a long-term role in his career in the post LeBron NBA.

I guess if Rondo were to leave, that does clear the path for CP3.
