I loved this signing and I'm thrilled that Cook is contributing right away. He is a great pickup for us.

Give him all of Rondo’s mins. Hes not just a shooter. He can create a little and attack the basket. Most important is his ability to get his own, our bench needs that right now.

Honestly I feel like Rondo and KCP are redundant players on our roster. But I understand why both are here. Hopefully most of their minutes will get taken by better options such as Bradley, Cook and Caruso and Green and Daniels.

Injuries and jail will take care of those two. I'm not even worried.

Kuz’s option next year was picked up and in related news Cook’s partially guaranteed deal next year was made fully guaranteed.

Cook is the goddamn star whisperer.

Is there a basketball reason why? Cause for the life of me, I can't think of a basketball reason. I can think of off the court reasons like KCP being the Klutch price to get Lebron and AD. Or Rondo using witchcraft to fool elite players into thinking he can still contribute. But when it comes to basketball, they are both worthless.

No basketball reason except for the fact that AD likes Rondo from their time together in NO and they do have a bit of on court chemistry. So I'm ok with that. Other than that? Nope. Just the reasons you mentioned. KCP is GARBAGE.

    f***ing omnivore...but he’s resourceful AF.

Btw y’all riding hard on Rondo, but he took the vet min and without him, no one is proven enough (sorry Caruso) to really validate staggering Bron, the point gawd, back to the bench or lowering his usage by playing off ball. Rondo is good people for that fact alone.

And if you doubt that declaration, I encourage y’all to go check out AvBrad and Cook’s PnR frequency where they play the keeper. Check out their iso attempts as well and how many points per possession they generate being playmakers for themselves or a teammate. (Spoiler alert: those data points is limited for a reason).

Good point, I forgot about the vet min. I agree with the playmaker thing especially when it comes to p n r with AD, Dwight and McGee.

Or you could put your stats away, realize players' games aren't static, often influenced by rosters, coaching, player development coaches that are "handy" and continued hard work .... and most importantly ..... sit back and actually watch the team and the games first, which begin Tuesday. See what really happens?

I like Cook man. He will keep our stars happy and keep team chemistry healthy.

I just don’t think we can expect him to change his game. He will play off-ball well with Bron. But I don’t think it will translate well if reciprocated...cause over the years that just hasn’t been his game.

Dubs run a motion offense till their stars go iso. If Vog runs something similar where we don’t rely on Cook to up his usage, it should translate well. But forcing the kid to go high usage and be playmaker, I just can’t see it cause he’s really never played that way before.

The only thing that I would change about the Cook signing is go 2yr vet min fully guaranteed (with incentives and player option) rather than the 3m 1yr deal that cut into our cap this summer with only 1m guaranteed next year. It does make him a trade candidate tho. But I personally would like to keep him at that low of a number.

And don’t worry, I’ll enjoy the season till December 15th, then the trade machine goes live from the comforts of my armchair.
