Pays to be close with Bron and AD, be a good locker room and bench presence. Not saying he's not rosterable, but there were better players, rotational players still available. This was not a performance based decision.

Good player to have around the team though. Welcome back.

I'm glad to see him back for chemistry reasons and I just like the guy. Good to have you back on board champ Cook!

I think this is a smart decision. QC is cheap, has a GREAT attitude, knows the system, fits well with the team, and is good insurance in case of a Schroder injury. We may still add another big later, but have Cacok available until then.

So Quinn gets to keep his 1M guaranteed salary for being cut, then gets resigned for the minimum... great cap gymnastic by Rob who does not know his way around the salary cap

I think this means that if necessary, we could waive Cook by 2/27 and then have enough room to bring in 2 buyout players.

Not sure if you are complimenting Rob here or razing him but our cap hit for this season on Cook is 1.62 mil + the 1 mil guaranteed instead of 3 mil saving us 380,000. + Cook isn't guaranteed the 1.62 if he is cut. That's only if he makes it to February 21 without getting cut. RP's been manipulating the cap as well as anyone in the league.

Meanwhile Cook had a real nice game last night worthy of sincere “attaboys”. Probably won’t earn him many more minutes on this roster but definitely nice to see. Watched his last media interview and easy to see why he’s so popular with his teammates.

When Cook is your 12th guy, coming off the bench only when needed in blowouts that's pretty darned good. Terrific game last night. I'm a fan of Cook's as I said, and I'm so happy for him that he's back.

I don't know if he can play like that more often, but that was awesome.

I was watching the game highlights in the THT thread, good thing Cook had a great shooting night. Guy was awful on defense.

Looks infinitely better than he did in the first game. You could tell in the first one that he just rejoined the team the day prior. Shook off all that rust and then some in the second outing. Steph Curry-lite out there. Not expecting to see that again, but damn it was nice to see against the Clipps.

I think it was inevitable that we weren’t going to guarantee his deal. I’m not sure if this means we have something specific lined up, but it was inevitable that we would want that extra flexibility under the hard cap. Tough for Cook, seemed like a great teammate. But the Lakers did more than right by him and we need to keep our options open.
