After seeing this mess with Melo and what Pritchard did with PG, I like to bring up the last Kobe extension that everyone cried about. We take care of our stars.

    still, though...

where's the media on the other side of this? melo gets to demand his way to houston while the knicks are forced to take back junk in a deal? houston gets to publicly exploit trade loopholes to form yet another superteam? and we're all "dismayed" by the fact that the deal can't get done?

this is horse s***. this same league blocked the chris paul trade, then let him be traded for a half-eaten ham sandwich a few years later. then we have teams bending over backwards to eat terrible contracts so carmelo anthony can play with his buddy in houston?

if this was the lakers, there would be a media hit piece hourly until the deal was killed.

I wonder what would happen if Dr. was still around and said "Screw you, I'm shutting down the Lakers"...

We probably can't do that from a legal standpoint, but if we could, NBA would s*** their collective pants.

Considering Phil's humangous ego...I'm kind of happy that he gets a bullet there.

yea I say F Melo, let him rot in NYK for the rest of his contract. He forced Ny hand to gut the team, he forced the no trade clause and NY willingly gave it to him, they deserve one another.

werd. melo made his bed. why bail him and houston out? while getting nothing. if he wants to walk away from his entire contract, i'm listening. otherwise, shove ryan anderson up your own a**.

    respectfully, of course.

The Knicks new GM said on SportsCenter today that he hasn't yet met with James Dolan. :D Michael and Jemele were so shocked they had to clarify the question to make sure they didn't ask it wrong. "Oh ok, so you met with him before taking the job, but not yet since?". No, he didn't, he dealt with that other guy only, Hill or whoever. You can't make this stuff up.

I mean, Phil was horrible in his job, but I wonder how much was Dolan directing things.

He always said he wanted to stay long term, but he never cut back on how much he disliked the situation.

reading the full article, i'm not sure it sounded great for ny. sounds like he's saying, "you got one part of the problem out, but you've got more work to do..."

and he's right. problem is that dolan is the beating heart of that perpetual cesspool. i'm guessing zinger's out when he can get out. he might not even sign the customary rookie extension if the right opportunity presents itself. he seems like a guy who'd give up a few million to not be in a miserable situation.

I can name two people on their roster, and one wants to be traded. That's not a good look for the "most valuable" NBA franchise.

So according to Woj and others, Melo has expanded his list of teams he’d waive his no-trade clause for to include Cleveland and OKC. First, I get that he wants to go to a team that can compete for a title, but like most aging stars, he clearly doesn’t get that he isn’t the player he once was. Also, if you want out that bad, maybe use your brain. Cleveland and OKC don’t have anything to trade for Melo. OKC traded anything they had for George. Can’t see Cleveland giving up that Nets pick or Love so LeBron has a buddy for one season and then he leaves and they have zero all-stars left. Find a better situation, or you’re not being traded if your Melo, lets be real.

this is why you don't allow no trade clauses except to the best of the best

Well so much for that, Melo is headed to OKC. What does that leave NY with? Porzingis and ???

still think houston will be better than okc, but both are real threats to land lebron and/or take all big-name FAs next year, which is a huge bummer.
