Marc started and has played his entire career with the Grizzlies. Not once did he indicate a desire to play in LA. PG grew up there and thinks of it as home. I don’t see much similarity between the 2 and I’m also happy to not pay him $50M over the next 2 years.
regardless of the reasoning's, I still stand by my comments of the potential outcome of PG return to OKC, their taxes will only rise if they want to keep a competitive team, as Pg/Adams/Russ annually salary rises each yrs so will their taxes, they'll get cheap and search out vet min signing and the results will reflect that choice.
I don’t disagree with that. If he goes back, it’s only a matter of time until he wants out or gets traded for $$$ reasons.
Report just came out saying PG is expected to resign with OKC. That explains our desperation for Kawhi...
there's no such reports, it says the chances of okc getting him back are higher than most would think.
theScore - Report: Teams expect George to re-sign with Thunder Report: Teams expect George to re-sign with Thunder https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1557389 The title is exaggerated, but it seems other teams are thinking he's staying. Given the recent rumors of us being desperate, maybe the Lakers are one of them.
You mean this report? “Now, at least one of those dominoes doesn't look likely to fall very far. Multiple teams have indicated they expect George to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder this summer, according to The Washington Post's Tim Bontemps.” Yeah I’m not putting too much weight into what multiple teams “expect” according to a reporter from Washington. How that probably went was, the reporter asks some executive on a random team like Milwaukee. “Where do you think George is going?” and they answer with “Oh well a lot of Woj’s reports are trending towards OKC having a chance so I think he re-signs” No one knows what George is doing other than George ... and probably Magic/Bron
What exactly is different about what PG's "My Journey" is doing and "The Decision?" Is this documentary making 2.5 million dollars for Boys & Girls Clubs of America like The Decision did? And yet the hate for LBJ for doing that is ridiculous. Yeah he looked stupid but he gets a pass from me for raising money for kids in my book. Anyone who wants to raise millions for youth organizations can look as stupid as they want on tv, I don't care. But PG is seemingly already getting a pass for this...a home team desperately wanting him back and a large market team hoping he makes his way there with some other star(s) and his announcement to come on ESPN. Sure sounds familiar....and greedy-a** ESPN isn't sharing anything with any damn kids.
Oh to be a fly on the wall in all these places to see if mass manipulation in the press is going on like I think it is, or if organizations, players, and agents are as schizophrenic as they seem.
There’s a difference between thinking and doing. This could all be a ploy by San Antonio to make the Lakers seem desperate to give up more for Kawhi. Unless it’s an official announcement, stop reading these dumb “reports” and just wait.
It’s packaged a little differently, but at its core, it’s all pretty narcissistic if you ask me. I’m totally turned off by it, but PG does come off like a more sincere and like-able athlete facing a tough decision than LBJ did. More of a “Can we tag along for the process” approach vs. let’s make everyone bow down, acknowledge my greatness, and then I’ll hose someone on National TV. One is packaged with more sugar. KD’s approach was to avoid it all and say what he wanted to do up front. I can’t hate on that approach.
I admit I'm reading tea leaves here, but I just don't like how rumors emerge of us going hard for Kawhi and trying to acquire a first round pick from Denver by absorbing a bad contract comes out the same day as rumors that some teams expect PG to resign in OKC. Maybe it's an elaborate smokescreen to pressure us, we can just hope and wait.
Sigh. My god. At what point will common sense register? Come on people. Lakers have ALL the leverage. Again, let me say this again, LAKERS OWN ALL THE LEVERAGE. That is why Rob cleared 2 max slots, to be in THIS position. Paul George is a All-NBA player who is a two way player THIS YEAR. Not 2 years ago, not 5 years ago, NOW, in his prime. The scoring guard position is wide open for him to come with no restriction, with a max contract, with the premier team in the league, with all the opportunities to open up all the other things he wants to do. You want me to believe he is gonna pass all that for Russell f***ing Westbrook and to be in OKC? And you think the Lakers do not want him the second that clock turns 12:01am? Please fast forward 3 days.......
There is no report of any of that. All these dillholes are getting clicks for their own money making opportunities. No one knows dong.
I've already said it after hearing what Part 1 was like. But this just reeks of wanting to try and appeal, soften the blow to the LA fan base in hopes it will help him when deciding to stay with OKC.
