I don't think we're disagreeing on anything in that scenario. It's entirely possible OKC takes the chance that George stays, but if there's a decent indication he won't commit, I could see them moving him before the deadline in order to get something instead of nothing.

My position all along is that it's a fluid situation.

Kind of like PG getting a mulligan to do it successfully this time in letting the FO know in private he's going to come home and sign with the Lakers in the off season to fulfill a dream .....and WILL NOT re-sign with any other club if traded elsewhere before or at the deadline. He's got a lot more leverage this time around. Maybe at the deadline we could trade but not have to give up as much. Like keep Randle and give up Clarkson & Zubac instead?

OKC looking trading near the deadline means they're desperate. Randle and Clarkson would then be too much. Hell Randle might be putting us on the losing end unless we're chasing for a playoff spot for EXPERIENCE and EXPOSURE of our young players.

Actually, it would be better for the Lakers to have OKC hit a good stride and then get a 4 or 5 seed and then get bounced in the first round. Presti would trade George to the Cavs for that top pick in a heart beat and George on the Cavs with a healthy isiah thomas, lebron and love could win it all and win for the next 2 or 3 years.

Just the thought of it makes me feel bad for whoever that top pick would be.

Sorry guys. I can't believe I could feel distaste for Westbrook any more than I do now. Ironic since this is the first time I've been following and watching their games closely. Or maybe that's it, because I'm watching them closely.

my personal theory is that the lakers FO talked him into the trade demand--which was a miscalculation on their part. he could have just played out the string in indy and been moved to la for a modest package in february. i think rob and magic were trying to make a splash and got too excited/overconfident.

Loss to a NY team without Porzingas. And letting Michael freaking Beasley score 30 points.

B2B after 3 OT , nothing to read here but yeah PG is definetely a goner .

I don't think he likes chilling in the weak side and not touching the rock down the stretch

I'm looking at their schedule in hopes of a possible 5 game skid but damn, they have 2 Gobertless games and the league-worst Hawks.

But who knows, it's OKC. Everything is possible.

I want to call it moist, but I don't think that's what moist means.

Cavs would probably have to trade Love in order to get PG. I’m hearing they really want to hold on to that Brooklyn pick just in case James leaves which I kind of doubt at this moment but who knows. That being said that’s the one team I truly fear getting PG. PG with Lebron and IT would definitely make them the favorites to win the east and I don’t think PG walks from that. If it came to it I feel the Lakers would have to pull the trigger just to keep him away from Cleveland. I’m hoping of course for more OKC struggles but at the same time I hope Cleveland plays better to the point they don’t think they need to make a trade and are content to just wait for IT to come back.

Teams are not going to send out value for George not knowing if he is going to stay. Cleveland can chance that because that's a title team. Cleveland wouldn't have to send out Love, they would have the leverage. For OKC, getting a top lottery pick out of the deal might be the best deal they get. Cleveland can really change the landscape of the NBA if they get George for that pick. So, i would rather OKC play better and not want to trade George and lose badly in the playoffs.

If OKC somehow makes it at least deep into the 2nd Round, George more than likely stays in OKC.
    1st Round exit & He's a Laker. IMO

You’re right Cleveland would have the leverage. But unless James gives them assurance that he is staying beyond this season which he has not, Cleveland is not letting go of that pick. But one thing I don’t take for granted is Presti’s saviness. He was able to get two all stars for for basically role players albeit Dipo is playing out of his mind right now. So I’m not gonna underestimate his ability to get value for George even if it is for a rental. Plus Cleveland did offer Love as part of a trade package to acquire George when Indiana first put him on the block before the deal fell apart, so if they try to acquire him again, I can see them offering Love again as part of the deal. Anything less than that would really work in our favor as we could potentially offer a better package. They’re playing well right now but what’s not to say they think they need more especially if IT can’t return to his former self? If IT can return and help the Cavs like they hope then hopefully this is a non issue.
Me personally I don’t want OKC to make the playoffs but if they do, we better hope they get no higher than maybe 7th seed guaranteeing they meet one of either Golden State or Houston thus ensuring a first round exit. Any higher that means they’ve figured out how to play with each other and I’m worried George might give them another year to try again.
