These pieces don’t fit. Again, they still should be able to figure it out over 82 games, but right now they are all trying to take under 20 shots per game and it’s very noticeable. It’s not going to work though, someone has to step up and be “the man” overall and in the clutch, and so far no one has. For a team with Westbrook and Melo, 2 of the most clutch shot makers in the game, that’s surprising. To be fair to Melo, he was a toe on the line from making a game tying 3 vs the Spurs (it was a 2 by barely that much, they lost in the end), so he clearly still has the clutch shot making ability. But which of these guys is going to be selfish in the clutch and deliver?
What an odd odd team they are. Blew another 20 point lead. I’ve never seen a team have good ball movement and great defence for a quarter or two and then revert to terrible in the second half so often. Theyir defence has been terrible in the 4th quarters, yet they’re still ranked 3rd top defensive team overall. I really don’t understand. Someone needs to step up offensively, Westbrook in particular has been bad. In saying all this I’ve seen similar issues in all teams trying to integrate stars - GSW last year with curry struggling, rockets need to get CP adjusted, Spurs with LMA, pelicans with the two bigs, Miami and Cleveland when Lebron joined. It’s a process.
It's when those misses out of hero-ball-I'll-do-this-on-my-own starts to pile up that they get lost. Their Big3 are all shooting below 0.450 because of those type of shots. And one more thing, PG is an exceptional 3pt shooter but Billy and the entire OKC coaching team just refuse to capitalize on that and both Melo and WB are out of nowhere keep deciding to just take their own lionshare of attempts from deep. Statsheets could be deceiving. A good 2-3 attempts of PG from 3 each loss are desperation shots, of course he'll miss most of those. --- I've watched all of their games. All 18. So this is me without any biases whatsoever. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
Is this based off an eye test? PG is attempting 8 three pointers a game and shooting 42.5%. Far and away his most attempts and best conversion rate in his career. He is also taking the most amount of shots per the team. PG’s problem is he hasn’t been decisive enough or called for the ball when he is hot. Westbrook has really been the big issue so far. Career low FT%, career low finishing, career low shooting. Have to think the MVP will come back to his averages when you watch him play.
Decisiveness in regular season? Nope. He's always been like that even back when he's the only star in Indiana. Playoffs is another story though. And I think decisiveness has already been covered decidedly by both Melo and WB even during nights when they're shooting bricks everywhere. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
Lakers 8-10, OKC 7-9. If we can just freeze time here, before December starts, clearly PG should come to LA.
I’m impressed so far! We have 8 guys getting the bulk of the minutes lately, that’s 5 young guys and a few vets and we’re playing good D! It’s an encouraging sign, because most young players continue to get better on O till they hit their prime but that’s not necessarily the case for their D.
Like I said in the KCP thread: Paul George needs to be watching KCP closely. If KCP can take over a game like he did last night, George should be able to do that and more. I know he said it would take an avalanche of players and positivity to get him here, but should it? It doesn't look fun playing next to Melo and Russ. That's not to say we look like Warriors, but we're looking more fun right now than the Thunder.
Funny. PG can take over games just fine. Doesn't always seem to be the case with his rather lackadaisical effort in several occasions but if I can see KCP take over games half as many times as PG did against real talent and competition, maybe I'd agree that he should. You misunderstand. I mean that Paul George should be watching KCP do it in LA because Paul George can do it better than KCP if he came here. When we signed KCP I was most excited that he'd be able to help take the burden off of Lonzo defensively as well as help some with the creating duties in pick and roll. That's mostly been true thus far and what's most exciting about that is someone like Paul George can look at KCP as the blueprint to success next to Lonzo. If Paul George were watching the game last night in his condo in Oklahoma, he should be able to see KCP and think, "oh I could go to LA and do that, but do it better".
Haha.. Forget I said something. Just the instinct of a stanboy in me kicking in. Although to your point, think Luke the moment he gets some proven talent in his squad maybe not entirely but would somehow change the way his team run their offense and especially their defense. Even the players movement in that court would be different. It could be better. But I agree, LA game looks fun right now. Definitely way way better than last year considering they actually then started 10-10 at some point. I can see real progress in BI's game and a surprise steal in Kuzma, my personal LA favorite at the moment. LB can continue do what he does in facilitating and maybe improve on a thing or two, no worries he can only get better. Then PG coming home next season and we're playoff bound! ...if we aren't already. Exciting. I just hope, our stubborn a**** in this year's trade season including that 500k fine pay dividends if you know what I mean.
