The west and the east are like two different leagues at this point.

yeah, pritchard won't last the year, imo. just really stupid to let emotion dictate a business decision.

It's like Indy went searching for the worst trade available. Pritchard should be fired. Us and Boston offered a lot more.

I sort of doubt how much Boston actually offered. I think they're just releasing this stuff to try to save face with their fan base. I think it's much more likely they're lying than that the Pacers rejected all these wonderful offers.

I do think Pritchard took one of the worst deals though that I could imagine. This was awful and it was just to spite everyone. Pritchard deserves to get fired.

What's the C Bags plan now?

Hayward probably stays in Utah now.

With PG13 in OKC don't really see the point for him leaving money on the table to go to argurably a worse roster.

Even if they get him they're not getting past the Cavaliers.

Yeah. That article makes it pretty clear: the Lakers are excited about this move and they feel like they're in control of this situation. Things can change, but boy it's interesting seeing this from Ding's perspective. He basically admitted that the Lakers are looking at this as George is for sure coming and that he may even work on trying to convince Westbrook to follow.

I would say that article actually painted the picture as more of a sure thing than we have seen before.

Honestly, I like this trade. I know a lot of this has been said elsewhere in the thread, but my quick thoughts

1.) I like Westbrook as a player, and it's nice to know he will have one season with another top 15 player at his side to make a run at the big dogs in the West.

2.) If he was going to get traded to anyone other than the Lakers, OKC is the near perfect choice. No one that didn't have a puncher's chance was going to give up assets for a one year rental. But OKC is a tiny market and really can't compete without about 8 or 9 catastrophic injuries to players across the league...at the same time.

3.) Boston, Cleveland, Houston and San Antonio don't have him.

4.) We didn't trade away Clarkson and Randle, both of which could be valuable down the line to dump the Deng contract. Or if all we are able to secure next offseason is George, we'll need Randle in the starting lineup.

5.) Perhaps the biggest thing I like about this trade, we can stop following every single morsel of PG-13 news that drops. It's done now. It's over. We can concentrate on the Lakers again...until the day the Thunder are eliminated from the playoffs.

I know it's very, very unlikely, but how great would it be if the Lakers somehow made the playoffs and matched up with OKC and upset them?

Then it'd be a virtual guarantee PG13 and Westbrook would both come home.

Imagine that...OKC seemingly makes a no harm deal in hopes of somehow getting another long term superstar there with Westbrook and then come next year Westbrook leaves with George because of the relationship they had in OKC.

While I highly doubt George stays in OKC even if he bolts to Los Angeles it's still a huge win for the Thunder.

Getting rid of one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

Didn't give up any future picks.

Didn't have to take on any bad contracts to hamper their rebuild.

I think OKC is well aware of that possibility so they didn't include any draft picks in that deal. Any chance they will try to flip PG at the trade deadline? Heck maybe try and get Randle from us.
