I didn't say that it negatively reflects on the character of the person. I said that all the negative takes towards the team, reflects on the team and could effect FA's who may not want to take it on. I just see a bunch of arm chair quarterback who second guess everything, without truly knowing the background info that the FO has.

When I make comments about Laker fans, I'm not really saying that knowing about you are anyone around here. I post at other places and just discovered this place. I was ONLY an occasional poster on Clublakers. Seemed to get there when there were problems and never heard where everyone went. I have very little opinion of anyone around here. We all have negative takes, I do too, not trying to be too hard arsed about it. I just think that when the fan base gets too entitled and too negative and has very little appreciation of the journey. It's not a great situation.

i agree that if your whole motive for watching sports is to enjoy championships, i think you're missing out on a lot of the best part (and most of what makes championships really enjoyable for a fan).

welcome to the site, btw; didn't mean to jump down your throat right off the bat!

Thanks and no worries. I'm not taking it harshly. I've been watching the Lakers since they moved to LA. I was watching all those years that we lost to the C Bags and I have seen the highs and lows. I loved Showtime but the year we beat the C Bags was way more satisfying for me because we finally got over that obstacle. I also watched some of our losses to them in the 60's, where we seemingly had the better team and still lost to them. It was tragic at the time. I revere Magic Johnson and am more than willing to let him make a couple of mistakes to learn how to be a great leader in the FO. I think he is going to do us right.

IMHO, we have just been in the absolutely worst era for LA basketball ever. Anything Magic does, is going to be way better than what was going on. I may get critical, but if I do, it will be later because he has earned my loyalty enough to give him a solid chance to prove himself.

It seems like the rest of the league respects him and thinks he is making good moves. I want to promote that agenda because it will attract FA's. If they believe the hype and see the fan base buying in and supporting it, it will help convince people that they want to be here. I am all for that.

I feel like I needed to have made a gif with poop to help, but I'm not clear who it includes or why.

Unless the fan base calls out in unison, there shall be no poop!

It will be nice to have the fan base all excited again and all rooting for success. I'm choosing to temper my expectations about Ball though. No matter how talented he is, he's just a kid. If we find ourselves in the playoffs, that's a HUGE win.

I'm curious for Summer League and for free agency. I know nothing of our new players besides Ball. I don't even care to read about them. Guess I'd rather just watch them play and form opinions from there.

I'm ok waiting til next year on PG.

Extended losing has a way of tempering expectations. I'm barely even able to muster "cautiously optimistic" feelings right now.

I feel like we're past the tank stage, but sure could use some good/great news about the team to generate some excitement.

Summer League will be a welcome sight.

Fortunately and unfortunately that good/great news was keeping our pick and getting Lonzo Ball. :D

But the reactions to that have been mixed to say the least.

If George really did grow up a Lakers/Kobe fan, not sure anyone could top a pitch from Magic/Kobe for him.

This is something I was posting in the D'Angelo thread, but I wanted to move the topic here for discussion:

That's basically why I still have lingering hope right now. Every sports writer in the world from Ramona to Scoop Jackson to Indiana's beat writers all think Paul George has his heart set on coming here. Every report we've seen still says that George's agent has been steering things towards LA and that George won't sign an extension with any team... Until those narratives change, I'm going to hold out hope. He may go somewhere to win, but if that happens then we'll just have to adjust our own plans.

One of the talking heads on ESPN brought up a great point about LeBron in Cleveland: he's good no matter what happens.

    1. The Cavs win another title with Paul George and Kevin Love. LeBron James has now brought TWO rings to Cleveland. He's more than fulfilled his destiny as their greatest son. Now he can go off on his next great adventure. Fans will be disappointed, but how much can you really hold against him?
    2. The Cavs lose another Finals with or without Paul George. LeBron James can leave saying that hey at least he won one ring. He did his duty to his city. Now he can leave behind one of the worst owners in sports and go play the rest of his career in a happier place for himself and his family.

The latest report is that Gilbert had a trade lined up to move Kyrie to Phoenix for pieces they would flip for George. This coming on the wake of the report saying Kyrie will leave if/when LeBron does. Gilbert wanted an assurance LeBron would sign long-term if they made the move and LeBron refused. The move wasn't made, but this is how desperate the situation has become in Cleveland. That's why I have no fear of George staying there even if they find some miracle way to put George in Cleveland. The situation is way too rocky. I can see the whole thing falling apart this season, let alone next summer. In fact, I almost wish they'd make the move and get George in Cleveland and have both LeBron and George walk to us in the summer. After everything Gilbert did to sink our franchise, can you imagine how delicious his reaction would be?

If the situation changes where we're no longer hearing it's LA or bust for Paul George, that's when things will get desperate. The situation is fluid right now. If Boston acquires Hayward, I think the odds start to really shift against us. It would be fascinating to see if Paul George would say no to an extension even with Hayward in Boston. If he says no to that, with the Cleveland situation devolving and a clear path the Finals for Boston, then we have it in the bag. He'll be ours next summer. We'll just have to wait and see.
