I honestly think he is talking about the fact that we will draft some player in the NBA draft when it is our turn to draft. Huge scoop.
My sources tell me they're going back in time to retrieve a 28 year old Kobe Bryant. They may or may not be successful and Bryant may or may not sign a max deal with the Lakers if they don't trade Deng. No Deng no deal.
He didn't really say much in the end, other than Indiana has to decide do they want to take the best they can for George now or get less and less over time, and that our chances are better than they were a day ago. Aside from that he seemed iffy. Biggest takeaway to me was the #2 and Ingram are untouchable or this deal would have happened already, and it better stay that way.
There is simply no way a deal is better today than yesterday. His value goes down every day. And once the season starts, forget about it. They'll be lucky to get a 2nd round pick at the trade deadline. Bird screwed up by not trading him at the deadline last year. He was betting on him being named to an All NBA team. (Thank God for us he wasn't).
They're spinning their wheels. Also think the Warriors help us. With how dominant and loaded they're right now most teams likely don't believe a trade for George puts them over the top because of how great the Warriors are. Why risk it all for a one year rental if it's not likely to result in a championship?
Woj is pretty much saying what us, and every other person/team BESIDES Indiana is thinking. The leverage George as created puts the Pacers in a really tough spot. They have to accept the bad situation for what it is and just make the most out of it. If they continue to try and make it better than it is it will only get worse with time.
At this point, I try to flip 27/28 for a pick in the teens and hope to get lucky. Wait until next year for PG13 and another max player. 2018 gonna be lit! (that's what the kids say these days, right?)
Indy's been stricken with paralysis by analysis. The smart move was the come to grips with him having to be moved at this past deadline and pulling the trigger then. By all accounts, they weren't serious about doing it then and now they're paying a severe price.
Woj said they are waiting until the last minute to see if someone will take the plunge for George. George has said he doesn't want to play in Cleveland. GS isn't trading for him. San Antonio has shown no interest. Danny Ainge isnt giving up picks for one year rental. George has all but told the league he is going to be a Laker in 2017 or 2018, one way or the other. Look for Indy to make a deal before the draft so they can make the picks at 27 and 28. If not, they eff themselves after. Lakers then do not offer draft picks and Indy would have to take players and future picks.
Phil's catastrophic brainfart in making the Zinger available has actually done us a nice solid. The Boston's of the world and sniffing there instead of putting much thought into a PG rental. Thanks one more time, Phil!
There's so much thunder leading up to today, I just hope the storm actually comes. Doesn't have to be PG but anything/anybody needs to be traded somewhere. So many names and rumors, heck Spurs just threw LMA into the mix.
Yeah apparently Aldridge thinks the Spurs are to blame for his pathetic play in the playoffs. Dude has some nerves. They changed their system a bit for him.
The fact that the D'Angelo trade actually had an impact on the Pacer's ability to move PG even more is kinda hilarious. Just wished we could've moved Clarkson instead of Russ, but it is what it is.
