I'd be shocked if Ainge went all in right now with LeBron in Cleveland and with the Warriors an obvious dynasty. I think he's going to make them competitive (sign Hayward) and then continue hoarding prospects until the Warriors are on the downturn. Once they start falling off, he'll move those assets and try to make them a contender.
No. I thought it was really strange when the Blazers did that. They must have been counting on Crabbe and Harkless retaining some trade value. I'm not sure they have any anymore. They're not exactly Deng or Mozgov, but yikes!
like i said earlier, it wouldn't shock me if some team that gets hot late in the season goes all in and gives up a bunch of picks to acquire him just in hopes of winning it all
Well, for PG specifically, his value is so low right now, he wouldn't have to go "all in" to offer the best asset(s). Though you're right, Ainge has been punting over & over again. One of these days though, he's going to cash in some of his chips...
Yeah. With his 1 for 3 trade, I think he can make a play for Butler. I wouldn't do George just because of his ability to walk. But you could offer the #3 pick, Jae Crowder, Zeller and another throwaway to match salaries. Then sign Hayward. You still have Brown and Smart as young pups, plus the Nets pick and our pick next season to reload. Butler/Hayward/Horford/Thomas with Brown and Bradley coming off the bench could give Cleveland a run for their money. An injury to Kyrie (not out of the question) and they're in the Finals.
Yeah that sounds about right, but I also wouldn't doubt at all either if they just stand pat and take their kid Tatum. It's a toss up to me. I just don't think Ainge pushes all in until he feels confident he's not just in the Finals, but has a legit shot at the Warriors. Does that team have a legit shot? They might.
I think apart from clearing up some space, that's the whole point of trading Russell. To get PG since whatever our offer was, Pacers may have countered with Randle and/or Clarkson & two 1st round. And Pacers welching made the offer to BKN look a little appeasing but not necessarily bad. It's a double-edged sword. I'd still count it as a good move in the long run. If they're willing to mortgage whatever they can offer for a 1 year rental then so be it. 1 year won't kill us. I'm good with how we handle these trade negotiations. Magic and co did whatever they can to get a deal done. PG played his part extremely as well. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
