I think the Pacers just want to save face and make it look like they got value for him. They'd be better off with just the picks and Clarkson/Randle IMO.
His profile says he's a retired reporter who occasionally hears some things from insiders. Looking at his previous "inside scoops", he's gotten a few wrong but they've been stuff that seemed close to happening. Only has 200 followers and doesn't really tweet that often. My gut is that he's telling the truth (not that it's actually happening, but at least that he did hear it from a credible source). I don't really see it happening though. If it's essentially Russell, Mozgov, and #28 for George, I'd be ecstatic.
Anderson replaces Young, Bev replaces Teagues (who will be quite expensive to retain IMO)...as noted by Indy fans on realgm, they dont believe Indy will tank, this route they dont, could keep them in bottom half of playoff races if Turner transforms into their cornerstone franchise guy.
Houston wants cap space for this summer and the future. Morey unloads Anderson's commitment for Lopez (like what the Lakers did with Mozgov). Then Morey has 3 players with expiring deals in Ariza, Beverly, and Lou.... that's roughly $20mm in cap space plus the $10mm in cap room and you have a $30mm slot to play with.
I mean if they wanted high priced veterans, we could have just given them Mozgov. I'm not positive Anderson retains a ton of value outside of Houston and especially not in a city that doesn't have an uptempo offensive style. Interesting though. Morey and the Laker FO are definitely close. We've gone to that well before.
But all that comes off next summer so they'd be doing that to make a run in 2018 and not this summer? What's their plan for this summer?
There was an ESPN reporting saying the Rockets were gonna pursue Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, and Blake Griffin.
Hahaha. Should be a rule here. A little text preview of what's in the tweet. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
I'd prefer this deal for the PG13 trade to be completed by tomorrow afternoon right after I sit down with food and drink and turn on the tv to watch Mason & Ireland. They will hyperventilate over the trade and that would be a nice lead into the draft. Lakers trades and draft talk dominate the day. Thanks in advance Magic.
Those contracts expire next summer though. This summer they'd only have about 10 million to spend. They'd have to get rid of Ariza, Williams, Lopez and/or Gordon to make enough room this summer to add someone in FA.
