Aren't the vast majority of Nick's possessions catch and shoots? I don't remember him being asked to do as much creating as in the past. I feel like he's been more the Kyle Korver kind of guy where he's got just the one job.

Lou on the other hand should be averaging a lot more assists.

I never see Nick with an open shot because he never just gets a clean look without a hand in his face. He's taking fall away jumpers every time.

It's almost always contested from what I've noticed.

Well I thought that was more an issue with spacing. I feel like usually I'm seeing him come off screens to catch and shoot, but the screens aren't effective or the spacing puts another defender near him anyway.

Williams's ast are below his career mark, but they're above last seasons. The funny thing is that he's shooting .404 and .348 on threes. Young is at .400 and .373. So Nick's shooting better on threes and has hit seven more on the season, but Lou has handed out five times as many assists.

I think that if one of them is doing his job, it's Lou.

Nick has been around for a long time though. As has Lou. I understand neither has probably played with a great head coach, but they've played one way their entire careers. At this point I don't see them changing that good head coach or not. I think every great bench needs one instant offense/high volume guy, but not two.

Williams also has more trade value, IMO. He was a value signing when we acquire him as an FA...$7 million dollars is a pittance for a guy in the new CBA for a guy that does what Lou does, and I think because of his most recent play, he can net us something back in a trade package. If he doesn't, we keep him.

If the Lakers were to trade one of those guys Lou or Young I'm thinking it's going to be Nick. The good thing for us is that they both have pretty friendly contracts. They both have some value to the right team as well. Personally I'd probably choose to keep Lou if it were me. But Swaggy's been doing a good job this year. I'd prefer to trade Kelly/Bass/Sacre for someone but not sure there will be a market for them.

I know Lou is capable of handing out MORE assists than Nick Young is. Nick simply does not have the ability to do it. However, if you look through Lou's career he DOES have the ability to pass the ball and find guys. Didn't he average over 4 assists a game at one point? I understand he's a highly capable scorer, but he's also more capable than anyone else of passing the ball and getting guys involved. More capable than anyone on the team besides Huertas right now, probably more capable than Russell at the moment while D'Angelo adjusts to the NBA game.

I think the list is a bit longer: Huertas, Russell, and Kobe, for instance, but I agree with the overall sentiment. I just don't think he SHOULD be playing that role. He's not a distributor.

True, but Huertas is maybe our most natural passer and he can't defend/only plays limited minutes. Instead we like to run units with no natural creators on it like Clarkson, Lou, and Nick all on the floor together.

Saw two interesting things on Twitter. First, Swaggy won't be playing much for a bit to give A.Brown time to play (per Serena Winters).

He has played limited minutes lately, and very poorly in some of them. Doghouse is my guess.

And then there was the clown comment....

I keep forgetting he's still on the team, I assume Scott is making the same mental lapse.

"Report: Lakers will try to trade Nick Young this summer
    19 Comments
By Sean HighkinApr 2, 2016, 5:00 PM EDT

In the aftermath of the D'Angelo Russell/Nick Young Snapchat scandal, one thing is clear: those two cannot be teammates next season. And Russell, at age 20 with franchise-level talent, is too valuable to trade, which means Swaggy P will be the one the Lakers try to unload, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times:

The Lakers tried to trade Young, 30, each of the last two seasons as his production dropped. There were no takers. They will likely try to find a home for him again this off-season, which won’t be easy with a player who didn’t even get off the bench in eight games last month.

The problem is that Young has two years and $11 million left on his contract, including a player option for the 2017-18 season. Even with the rising salary cap, that much money for a player whose performance has fallen off consistently over the last several years is going to be a tough sell unless the Lakers include another asset, of which they don’t have a lot they can really afford to part with.

More likely, the Lakers will end up waiving Swaggy under the stretch provision.

Haven't we tried to trade him for some time now, no one wants him. Maybe this time we won't overvalue him. Like the article says, we'll likely waive him.
