I'm pretty sure our starting lineup is undefeated.

He is averaging 14.1 pts in 26mins. But how good is Nick Young actually playing on offence?

So, I was looking at some stats on our guards, just to see how good they were playing. I put some basic parameters into the research, taking into consideration only guards, who have played at least 12 (roughly 2/3rds) games so far this season and must have at least 10 FGA's per game (decent part of their team's offence). I was pretty shocked:

    EFG%:

    1. S. Curry - 63.8% on 16.6 FGA
    2. JJ Redick - 59.9% on 10.4 FGA
    3. N. Young - 59.1% on 10.3 FGA
    4. K. Irving - 56.6% on 18.7 FGA
    5. K. Walker - 56.3% on 16.9 FGA
    10. L. Williams - 54.2% on 11.9 FGA
    21. J. Clarkson - 50.4% on 13.0 FGA
    22. D. Russell - 50.3% on 13.8 FGA

    2PG%:

    1. S. Curry - 59.5% on 7.4 FGA
    2. K. Thompson - 58.3% on 8.5 FGA
    3. G. Antetokounmpo - 57.9% on 12.7 FGA
    4. B. Bogdanovic - 56.4 on 5.9 FGA
    5. J. Harden - 54.4% on 10.1 FGA
    6. N. Young - 53.0% on 3.9 FGA
    13. JJ Redick - 50.6% on 5.4 FGA
    16. L. Williams - 50.0% on 7.2 FGA
    17. J. Clarkson - 50.0% on 9.4 FGA
    32. D. Russell - 45.2% on 7.2 FGA

    3PG%:

    1. M. Conley - 47.6% on 5.3 FGA
    2. JJ Redick - 46.7% on 5.0 FGA
    3. S. Curry - 44.9% on 9.2 FGA
    4. K. Irving - 44.1% on 6.2 FGA
    5. CJ McCollum - 44.0% on 5.7 FGA
    6. N. Young - 41.8% on 6.5 FGA
    9. L. Williams - 40.5% on 4.7 FGA
    17. D. Russell - 37.2% on 6.6 FGA
    26. J. Clarkson - 34.4% on 3.6 FGA

    FT% (at least 30 attempts):

    1. Arron Afflalo - 94.1%
    2. Nick Young - 94.1%
    3. Paul George 93.0%
    4. Stephen Curry 92.9%
    5. Kawhi Leonard 92.5%
    6. JJ Redick 92.0%

We are almost through a quarter of the season and from an efficiency point of view, Nick is ranked 3rd amongst guards (with 10+ FGA's) at an EFG% of 59.1%. He is hitting 2FG at 53% and 3FG at 41.8%, good for 6th best amongst guards in both categories. He is also hitting his FT's at 94.1%, good for second amongst all players league wide with 30 or more attempts. He is currently playing at an efficiency level comparable to JJ Redick and their stats are almost mirror images, with the main difference being, Nick is asked to bail us out at the end of shot clocks a little more.

He is taking good shots, in the flow of the offence with close to 2/3rd of these being open shots. Breakdown:

    - 47.7% of his shots are Catch & Shoot 3P opportunities - hitting them at 42.9%
    - 22.2% of his shots are Pullup 2P - hitting them at 48.7% (mainly getting run off the line or driving to the elbows)
    - 14.2% of his shots are Pullup 3P - hitting them at 36.0% (mainly from transition, pump fake dribbles and dribbling around screens)
    - 11.9% of his shots are Less than 10ft - hitting them at 61.9% (drives)

I'm quite optimistic this trend can continue, in 12 of his 17 games this season he hasn't held onto the ball for more than 6 seconds in a possession - which is a good sign of avoiding bad habits like over dribbling. Half his shots have zero dribbles and another third have two or less. Lastly from an eye test, he is beginning to attack the basket more and picking up FTs at a greater rate.

I'm not going to go into his defence here as its already a long post, but Nick is playing extremely efficiently on the offensive end while using some of that energy saved from not over dribbling or creating to guard the other teams best player.

So far Nick is a key part of our success this season.

EDIT: By the way his TS% is 62.5%

:SadPau2: ........ so what. It's understandable ...... lost his GF / fiancee at the time, was still pissed at DAR and "phone gate" and his Lakers situation ..... and didn't know in what cold weather town he would have to be fighting his a** off to make the roster of some other team. The other dude should have known he was in a bad mood.

    :Shh:

Funny how the guy didn't file a police report either.

I like how he also said all of Nick's teammates also jumped in and started beating him for no reason. That was a nice touch.

This much time to "report it"? If it was really that much of a big deal, I'm sure the Church would've had the authorities involved.

Sounds like the guy may have been talking Nick up and it got physical and he got the bad end of the it. Whatever.

Well ... can you imagine Nick now with the Achilles strain (yikes!!) and DAR hanging out together in the trainers room on this trip? How do those conversations go when it's just the two of them. Hope it's all behind them.

That play looked so harmless the way he jumped and landed. :KobeConfused:
